  • What can I do with ....

Fillet steak, a field mushroom and fresh baby spinach?

    Any yummy ideas ?

Just packed the kids off to their Dads for the weekend and thought I would treat myself.

    Thanks.

Wow! Loads... but whilst you decide, get the steak to room temperature (you've probably already done so).

You could obviously pan-fry the steak and mushrooms, deglaze the pan with a little balsamic vinegar and pour on the mushrooms; then dress the leaves as a salad to go with it.

If you have any oyster sauce/star anise/ginger/soy/other Chinese flavours etc. you could stir-fry them to good effect.

In fact with those three ingredients, you'd be pushed to get it wrong!

Enjoy anyway - so nice to treat yourself to a good meal!

Being veggie, I just love mushrooms, so often do stuffed mushrooms. I put a garlic butter (plus parsley) into the mushrooms, add a bit of olive oil to them, put them in the oven for about 10 mins to part cook, then I cook a bit of spinach in the pan and place it on top of the mushrooms. Finish off with any cheese of your choice and pop back into the oven. Lovely! You can fill your mushrooms with anything you like really i.e. rice. This can be served with your steak, which I often do for Mr TK and I have just the mushroom and salade....yummy!

I was going to suggest Stroganoff.

Don't ask me how to make it - I married a Chef! Google will help ya!

Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy it.

(We have Fillet this evening too! )
