    Hiya,

I want to make some homemade rice crispies. I have seen a video where they are boiled in ginger ale and oven baked afterwards but Im not keen on boiling them in ginger ale. Any ideas????

What rice crispies do you mean? All I know is that the puffed rice is made much the same way as popcorn (and might be best NOT tried at home), and you can make some nice cakey-things by sticking these together with melted chocolate! What else is there??????

Rice Krispies are slightly sweetened puffed rice. If you have a recipe with Ginger Ale, I would simply replace that with something like lemonade (but NOT one containing artificial sweeteher) and hope for the best. You might get results by simply adding sugar to the water when boiling the rice.
I've only ever attempted 'plain' puffed rice (same method as popcorn, but it takes a much higher heat and keeps threatening to burn, very low success rate!!)

If you cook the rice using something wet, then you will get rice pudding not puffed rice which is cooked with air.

I had to cook it in water with sugar in, then popped it in a pan at high heat with a bit of oil in, it wouldnt pop from dry needed to be cooked wet first
