Please note:-
Do not put mix in fridge else it will die. Do not use a mixer
and Do use the same size cup each time.
Starter:-
1 cup flour
1 1/4 cups water }- mix and let stand undisturbed for 24-36 hrs
1/2 pack of dried yeast
To the mix do the following
Day 1 Add 1 cup plain flour
Add 1 cup Sugar
Add 1 cup of milk
stir and cover loosely with a tea towel
Day 2 stir well
Day 3 Do nothing
Day 4 Do nothing
Day 5 Do as day 1
Day 6 Stir well
Day 7 Do nothing
Day 8 Do nothing
Day 9 Do nothing
Day 10 Stir well then remove three cups to pass on to friends
To the rest add the following
1/2 cup of sugar
2 tsp vanilla essence
2 tsp baking powder
2 Eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup sultanas
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1 or 2 cooking apples in chunks
2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Mix everything together and put in a large greased tin (20"x11")
Sprinkle over with 1/3cup of brown sugar and 1/3 cup of melted butter
Bake at 180C/350F/gas 4 for 40- 50 mins
Freezes well
