  • Indoor BBQ

After having all this lovely hot weather, I just had to try and BBQ something. I got out a chicken, jointed it, marinated it, then realised; We don't have a barbeque. Oh, great. Well, dang it - I said. I was just resigning myself to just another chicken dinner, one without my beloved burnt fingers and bits of charcoal adhered so tenaciously to the grill, when I had a thought. The woodstove!

Half an hour later, everything smells delicious. I'm finishing off the pieces in the oven (just in case) but they're smoky and slightly crisper than usual and they smell amazing.
    Has anyone else done this?

    Nope - but I don't have a woodburner.

I once made toast in front of the Gas fire in the lounge of my old flat when we had a power cut!

All Spanish woodburners come with a grill that you can detatch- ours has an oven on the top half, which makes fab stews ,roasts ,roast spuds and great pies- no good for cake though, I like the Spanish frugalness , some woodburners just have a metal ring on the top like you get on an aga- even the v.expensive 4000e ones come with a grill for your steaks. (just seen the photo- it needs a bit of a clean!!!)
