  • Ground elder

In todays Daily mail magazine Monty Don recommends eating ground elder as it's "delicious"! Has anyone tried it? I have an abundance that I have been trying to kill! If it's good to eat then I'll put up with it!

I tried jogging, but I couldn't keep the ice in my glass.

I wouldn't say it's delicious, but it's perfectly good in an omlette, stew or curry. We use it in the same way as you would spinach. Just make sure you use the you use the young leaves as the older ones can be a bit bitter.

So it's just the leaves then, not the climbing bit. Is that edible too does anyone know?

        Climbing????
The ground elder I had in the garden didn't climb anything!
Yeah, I've eaten it, but not to be aware of it. In those days I simply didn't eat spinach, so I liquidised it and added to a home made soup.

The Romans introduced it as a pot-herb. What did the Romans do for us. The B...ards!
