  • Todays fruit...............

.........was raspberries. Made some raspberry jelly just for a change. Don't ask me for the recipe as i just blagged it. Boiled the raspberries, sieved them through a stainles steel sieve. Put juice back in pan with an appropriate ammount of sugar, boiled it all up and let it simmer for an appropriate ammount of time then put it into warmed jam jars!

Just set away a loaf of bread in the breadmaker so that when I come back from the allotment I can have fresh raspberry jelly on buttered fresh warm bread!!!!! Yum!

Picked some Raspberries, Redcurrants & Gooseberries yesterday but not enough to do anything grand with so Mrs BM boiled them all up together with sugar & made a cracking pie which we have just had with ice cream. Delish.

Spent an hour picking raspberries again this morning , loads more to go ....and now I've noticed that the brambles are starting to ripen. Need a bigger freezer and a dehydrator (don't do jam )
S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig
a batch of jam is always an act of creation ..Christine Ferber

I follow the same taxing recipe. But I don't sieve them. I like a low-maintenance jam.

had a similar experience myself today. for once the birds have left the cherry tree and also found a whitecurrant bush laiden with fruit - so thought medium pectin and high pectin was a good combination so boiled the two up for half an hour and now sitting draining into a basin - -tomorrow it will, hopefully, be turned into cherry and whitecurrant jelly....
