How do you keep a Thermos flask from smelling fusty?

I was it ... I dry it ... I put the B*****d thing away...

AND STILL IT SMELLS LIKE THE INSIDE OF MY WELLIES

You should leave the stopper out and just resting loosely in the neck while stored - that's what I do with mine and they don't smell.

I think you could fill them with hot water and bicarbonate of soda to get rid of the smell - it works for cleaning the fridge anyway!

Dont put the stopper in when you're storing it Jonty. Get some bicarbonate of soda and put a little inside the flask. When you're ready to make your next brew, simply rinse the flask with clean hot water. I also use a bottle brush to make sure my flask is really clean.

If you have a shed Johnty, get a camping stove and make it fresh, flask tea is horrid.

Don't know why your flask is smelling Johnty, mine never do. But since it is, the others are right. Put some Soda Bic in with hot water to disolve it. This will remove the smell. Good for cleaning fridges and freezers and anything else with a smell.
Mummies of young children note - little bits of baby puke that have got onto things - clean it off, dust with dry Soda Bic, leave for a few minutes and brush it off. Smell gone.

Or better still get a woodburning stove so you can sit and keep warm while waiting for the kettle to boil on top of it!

Only problem is you don't want to leave the greenhouse or shed to do any work outside!
