What would you call?

I make lots of things which are basically potato plus whatever veg I have harvested, cooked in a bit of stock until just moist.
If there was rice in there, I guess it would be called a rissotto, but what is it called if potatoes are used instead of rice?

Hmmm Stew and slow bake suggest it takes a long time to cook, when in fact it is quick, about 20 mins.
I might ask the Potato Council. They may be missing a trick in their suggested uses for potatoes, there are hundreds of risotto recipes around but none for the same thing using spuds?

Hmmmm....sounds lovely!!!!...with a different mix of veg, herbs and left over chopped meat I can see that would make a fantastic basis for a winter type hot pot!!

I do a mix of spuds, onions, carrots and any other veg - all mashed together- as a winter mash served with meat.....sort of veggie equivalent!

sounds like the old dish i was reared on called coddle (irish version as mum was a dubliner )which was potato and carrot and onion and any meat (sausage or stew) cooked to oblivion!!!

i believe it is similar to stovies in scotland but lately stovies has been taken over with corned beef for some strange reason which i disagree with!! but thets another rant!!!


i would go for slow cooked beef stew with carrots, potatoes, onoins with loads of concentration and attention!!

Hash perhaps, if you start it a fried and then add stock a bit later, or maybe low-fat hash if you don't fry it at all....
