.......that C*******s condensed mushroom soup is a useful thing to have in the cupboard?
We have just had a yummy tea .....Chunked cooked chicken , frozen peas and sweetcorn mixed in a dish with the aforementioned soup. Pop in the oven for 10 mins then top with cheesy mash and cook for a further 30 mins till turning brown on top. Tasty

Also useful with fish under mash or a pastry top and a recipe called Louisiana Rice and shrimp (which is a sort of risotto thingy)

I do agree - years ago when the kids were small (youngest son is nearly 36!!) we had a caravan and I used this soup as a sauce in loads of dishes. So easy to use it when cooking on the gas burners in the caravan and very tasty too.
In fact - why don't I start to use it again now?

I used to totally agree with you but You can't get it any more. C******s were taken over by Batchelors?. They do market a similar product but I don't think it is as good.

Sorry Bin, I disagree. I secretly coveted tinned Ravioli and tinned Macaroni Cheese, since childhood. So I bought one of each for 'emergencies' to store in the Caravan. Well, imagine my disgust when I tried them. I was soooooo looking forward to them, and they made me puke. Can't stand anything in a tin now!

I'm with Bren.Campbells was much better,a good sauce for chicken.
As for mushroom soup,I prefer homemade one, ideally from dried wild mushrooms picked by myself earlier in the year.

Soups are good with chunky quorn, sweet corn and tomatoes cooked in slow cooker.

I've recently started using Lentil and Bacon condensed soup for cooking(bought for about 3p a tin via Big Brands for less), as I found it too salty as just soup.

I used to always have condensed soup in the store cupboard for emergency sause (I particularly liked the celery one) but as I don't shop in supermarkets anymore I never see it so not bought any for about 5 years.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

My gran used to use asparagus soup as gravy... It's amazing on a roast dinner! I do love a decent soup though... if we've not got any in, I must admit I am a bit of a baxsters fan!
