  • The joys of dripping & lard.......

I am rebelling against olive oil which I love. Sunflowers aren't particularily well suited to our climate either so whats the answer................good old dripping and lard.
Our forefathers were brought up on it, you can eat local instread of global, no airmiles and it is brill for making chips!

Just filled the deep fat fryer with dripping and made a pan full of chips........bladdy gorgeous and not a Spanish olive oil or a warm weather sunflower anywhere in sight!

Why rely on exported goods *** when we can supply most of our own needs!
And for cripes sakes don't start ranting on about polyunwhatchamacallit fats as I just don't care.

Oh just the mention of chips fried in dripping is enough to make my mouth water. Even cold chips that were fried in dripping are delicious. Takes me back to my childhood when chips didn't taste like cardboard.

True previous generations loved it - but they died younger than us, many younger than I am now!

However, fresh dripping with the brown jelly under, spread on toast and liberally salted and peppered is divine. I hesitate to say ' to die for'!

Totally agree Flum, or on fresh home-baked bread (crusty)

Its ok to start eating it if you are older now than your ancestors were.......
It takes about 50 years to sneak up on you by which time you would be dead anyway!

Would you rather keep the foreighners in a job and our lot on the dole?

If you were a vegetarian ........fair do's! If you've tried it before and didn't like it.......fair do's.
Close you eyes and try something cooked in it...........you might find you enjoy it! (And it can be locally produced)

If you had a bag of chips from a chip shop longer than 10 years ago you've probably had it anyway.........
