  • Za'atar - Palestinian herbs

My friend bought me some of this for my birthday from a little fairtrade/craft/gift shop... it's a fantastic herb mix...

Made of wild thyme, toasted sesame and sumac...this is the place that supplies it: Zaytoun

I've used it on chicken to roast, in tomato pasta sauces, in olive oil for dipping... I'm addicted to the stuff!!!

I've seen this spice mix in Asda (different brand, though). Based on the ingredients, it should taste savoury and a bit sour - is that the case? If so, I must try it. I often put thyme, lemon juice and salt on chicken...

Sumac????...drools..tis one of my most favorite flavours ( and I now have some thanks to my wonderful SS)

I can see that the sesame , thyme and lemony sumac would go well together!

      here's a bit about it....

Sounds good - I love middle eastern food, will keep an eye out for the mix.
