  • Pickled red cabbage recipe anyone?

I got a HUGE red cabbage in my veg box; and since I'm the only one who eats it, I don't think I can use it all.

Does anyone have any pickled cabbage recipes to hand? Preferably something that will keep for a while (a good few months)?

    Thanks!

OWG you could pickle half then make Braised Red Cabbage with Apples using the rest, it freezes well

.jamie oliver recipe or maybe a delia one. I've tried them both.

Pickled red cabbage only stays really good for about 6-8 weeks, however well you make it.
I like red cabbage cooked just like any other cabbage, but with a little vinegar (or lemon juice) added to the cooking water, or sprinkled over before steaming, instead of salt.
The 'traditional' braised red cabbage (with apple etc.) I find disgustingly mushy, but the world would be very boring if everyone liked the same foods (and there would be even worse shortages!).

Try a quick google, there are loads on there, too many to list on here.

A decent red cabbage will store for quite a while if you've not cut into it so you can make whatever you want with them over quite a period of time.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
