I catered for my MIL's 60th and as a side dish I roasted new potatoes in olive oil, rosemary and sea salt. They tasted delicious cold and went down a storm.

I agreee with the lemon suggestion I like lemon crunch pie you could make smaller portions in individual cups. Layer of biscuit, topped with mix of condensed milk, double cream and lemon. mmmm

Something simple like strawberries dipped in chocolate is fast and a space filler, kids seem to love them.

I would second the mini roasties. My Husband often makes them. Sometimes he coats them in M@rmite just before they're ready, then shakes them about and puts them back in the oven for another 10 minutes - deeeeeeelish!

At our wedding 7 years ago this November we had an evening buffet - which included bacon rolls as the main thrust for the savouries and a "doughnut mountain" for the sweet.

Essentially it was a great big pile of doughnuts with an array of dips/sprinkles for guests to customise their doughnuts.

One of the talking points of the whole day - especially as folk watched the fireworks muching on said bacon rolls/doughnuts.

How about providing a few freezer/sandwich bags so if there's anything left over peeps can take home a doggy bag??? ( I hate to see waste! )

We had a "candy bar" at our wedding. Bit of a cheat as you wouldn't have to make / bake anything. We collected lots of glass jars from charity shops and via ebay and brought a job lot of sweets online (cola cubes, acid drops etc).

Cupcakes might be an idea as you could batch cook and freeze until you're ready to ice them?

That's a great idea - I remember a friends' wedding, years ago, when everything that was left was dumped in black sacks, and chucked in the bin. Such a waste of food and money!

Have you thought of using mini Yorkshire Puddings, with little sausages or a roll of beef in the middle?

Adult jelly, YES! All you need to do is make up a mix of booze and fruitjuice with gelatin, and if you make a big batch, but pour into individual containers (foil cupcake cases?)......
I think orange juice and Cointreau might work well, apple juice with almost any fruit liqueur, or if you feel brave (make a tiny amount to test it? I think it should work nicely, but haven't tried it before) Tia Maria/Kahlua in a milk jelly!
Just make sure it is easy to tell the adult version from the one for the children.
