Yes FF - that looks like the flower - well done.
In Turkey they made like a pudding type cake with seeds swirled through it.

I once watched Mythbusters, and they ate poppyseed cake (just your regular kind of cake) and then they had a drug test, and they failed it. They didn't feel drugged or anything though. Just thought I'd throw that in there! Personally I never thought to worry about this and just used the seeds in cooking from the regular red ones that grow wild/in my garden.

The quantity used in most recipes is so low, I doubt it would cause significant problems (unless you are about to take a drugs test), and I get the impression that there is a reason opium has always been imported (I assume, low levels of opium unless grown in the hotter-dryer climates of the places it usually comes from).
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

            No harmfull effects!

            Hi all,
Have used some of my saved seeds anyway, though I did not have time to bake the poppy seed buns yet. Too many things to cook and store at the moment.!

I report no strange effect at all, and from the research it would have to be a huge quantity to have any effect.
Mind the red wine with the dinner might have masked the effect?
So hey ho ! Though I will be planting the Hungarian poppies next year.

I'm sure that it is nothing to worry about anyway.
