Ginger and treacle - good idea! I have sown lots of pumpkin seeds with this cake in mind!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I'm going to try this. But will try it in muffins tins. Makes it easier for school lunches and to ration what those at home get into!
I'll need to make a list of a couple of things I'm out of. And also it will have a clove taste to it as I put cloves in the gramma to cook (too much actually so hoping the cake and cinnamon will tone that down.) Some of the best recipes come from 'mistakes' tho.

Ok done and in the oven. I added a little treacle to see how it goes, love that taste. It smells good and the mixing spoon tasted great. Just waiting now to see how they come out. I used the patty liners in the muffin tin as some of those 'cakey' things stick to the sides, atho with all that oil it should be more like a muffin and slide out. We shall see! If they are nice, will have to make some more before I go away as they won't last 5 minutes here.

OMG they are lovely! So light, they just melt in your mouth! I'm not much of a cake cooker, I prefer savoury things but this is so easy, and it not only makes the house smell great, but they are lovely to eat. Don't ask me how long I left the muffins in tho, just stick a skewer in them and see what happens.

Sounds like you have a winning combo there Feral! Good to have another convert

I am looking forward to getting my hands on some more pumpkins to make these for the gardening club at school - will try them in muffin cases as well, and the skewer test is the best way to check they are done.

Reminded me a bit of the zuchinni and carrot cakes we made a while ago, but the spices in this one really sold me. I love cinnamon and nutmeg, and walnuts and treacle, so could hardly go wrong.

I followed the recipe that was posted (except that I was using cooked gramma and cloves were used with that while it was cooking in the slow cooker.) I added walnuts, and as much treacle as fell off the dessertspoon.
I used cupcake liners in the muffin tin as I was afraid it would stick to the sides (and it would have).
I just spooned them 3/4 full. A bit fiddly. Then put them in the oven. When the skewer came out clean they were done.
They actually taste like small sticky date and walnut puddings. And very handy in the cupcake papers. I've already been asked to repeat it and they aren't all gone yet......won't be long tho.

Just made the recipe today for Gardening club at school. Left out the nuts and baked the mix in 33 cupcake cases (I used silicon and sprayed with cake release). Out of about 24 kiddiewinks and 4 adults we had 24 takers and only 2 don't likers. They had a great time carving pumpkins and testing them out with a torch, and nibbling on pumpkin seeds as they went home.

Thanks for bumping this.. I love pumpkin cake - and as I've so many pumpkins, it'll be a welcome alternative to our roasts/soups/etc !
