The problem is made worse in our house as I dont get round to putting a label on what I freeze so we have some very odd looking parcels in there. Well the labels always drop off anyway or get stuck to another bag......

My 'beloved' never labels anything before freezing it. He also just bungs stuff in, wherever there is space. I, on the other hand, having a touch of OCD, like everything to be labelled. When our chest freezer died, I insisted on replacing it with an upright - it takes up less floor space in the shed, and has the convenience of drawers, so different things can be kept organised. It isn't going to be large enough, if I ever get the hang of this growing business, and manage to have a glut! All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

Apart from onions I haven't really bought veg since about April last year .....and If I used the tomato sauce everyday we'd look like one. It's fruit which takes up most room and we seem to have stopped eating cakes and puddings at the moment .......S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig

I'm doing well, we're halfway down the chest freezer now. I was dismayed to find 3.5 kg of courgettes and the same of green tomatoes, but I'm now enjoying a very delicious garlicky beany tomato & courgette soup, with chilli cheese on topAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

Anyway as a real newbie to gardening, having had lots of fun but not much overproduction last year, I did work out this morning that, if we eat one batch a week (add meat and mushrooms - eight portions) then we still have enough basic cougette pasta source to last three months! You can't really give it away either.
The runner and french beans are going well.

I'm just starting my yearly 'clean out the freezer' month. So far, I've made rasp and banana wine; and used up most of the P******s from 2 winter's ago in roasties. I've got all sorts of veg and curries and chillies; so I'm going to grab the curries in one go and add them to a fresh curry - and have that over 2 nights [the second one in jacket spuds] - ditto the chillis. And should be enough veg in there for a hooge soup. After that, it's just packets and packets of quorn to clear, some home made garlic butter [yup, home made garlic bread next week], some home made mozzarella [pizza coming up]; and I've already put all the fish fingers that Mr Z's DD seems to live off of into 2 boxes rather than the 6 that himself never seems to finish.
Once I've done all that - it's defrost time and the rhubarb for the first batch of wine should have been nicely forced and my tiny freezer will be ready, willing and able to receive.
