Using everything in your freezer?

I know somebody who tried to make a plum crumble out of a bag of kidneys...............

I defrosted a lovely yellow bag of stewed apricots a couple of weeks ago and was looking forwards to apricots and homemade yogurt all day.
When it came to serving up they were yellow tomatoes!

Finally managed to defrost the chest freezer last week, took a month to run it down. What interesting meals we had, they were all lovely though. I did find a tub of rhubarb (which I thought I didn't like) and made a crumble with homemade custard...... HEAVEN, can't wait till I can pick my own next year.

OH took out some bags of broccoli and cauliflower for me to make a cheese sauce bake type dish with them. I threw them, still frozen, into a large pot of boiling water and wondered why the water was turning slushy, turns out the cauliflower was actually mash potato. It got quickly drained and added to some chicken stock with garlic and herbs then wizzed up into a nice soup.

I'll definately try the masking tape labels from now on.

I'm glad this thread got bumped, just reading about winemaking reminded me I have 3 DJ's of blackberry wine to be bottled.

Oooh, lucky you........... I didn't get the demijohns etc from Freecycle
