Tell us what you name your starter! Don't keep them too cold to begin with though.

I'm not taking it to bed with me to get warm.

Looks exactly the same Bren. Like a paste.

Looks alright. Give it another stir. How cool is the temperature where you have it? Yeast is more active in warmer temperatures.

                    • Agree with SBP, give it another stir to incorporate the liquid a bit better.

18 ºC is warmer than my kitchen. I've made three starters and each one worked. I'd go so far as to say it'll take a miracle for yours not to work.

Wrap a warm towel around it? Even though Snoop says it's warm enough it will start more easily with a bit more warmth. We keep Elvis in the fridge between bakes, 'waking' him up by feeding and warming up as needed.

                        • Well I've started a second one in a different sort of pot and it's up in my sewing room.
So I may have 1, 2 or still none

                          • Nothing wrong with having 2 on the go especially when it’s winter time and the temperatures cooler.

                            • They hadn't done anything so I had a nose inside and decided to try a stir. I'd say they have more of a gloop stretchyness on stirring. Perhaps they are doing something?

First one is still just has the stretchy gloop to it. Should I give it another stir?
Second has got bigger after its stir yesterday.
