If at ASDA you go to where they make the bread and ask for fresh yeast sometimes they will give it you for free if they have some spare.
or you could try the "no knead recipe" only using 1/4 tsp of instant yeast at:
Making No-Knead Bread - YouTube
takes 24 hours but worth it.

This is another low yeast recipe.
560 g plain flour
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar

100ml milk
200ml water (I am using filtered water out of the fridge)
Mix together water milk in a pyrex jug and microwave for 1 minute.

Cover and leave for 3 hours.
Put in a loaf tin, cover with cling film and then leave for 8 hours in the fridge.
Take out and place in the warm for 3 hours.
Then bake in a hot oven at 225deg for 35mins, adjust for your own ovens.

Thanks Jax just hope some of these work for you.
On my shopping list will be bacon, eggs, wholemeal spelt flour, and double cream, because I am making home made butter,(there is a separate thread for this) that leaves me the buttermilk to make "soda bread"
I will make butter on the Saturday and soda bread on the Sunday as I think best eaten while still warm
RECIPE
300g wholemeal flour
1tsp salt
2tsp baking powder
220ml buttermilk.
METHOD
pre-heat oven 230deg,take the butter out of fridge,
In a mixing bowl add all the ingredients, and lightly mix together no more than 2mins(as overworking makes it too heavy) fold out onto a floured work surface and form a round shape, with a sharp knife cut a cross on top and bake for 15-20mins,cool on a rack and wack on some butter at room temp, and serve with bacon and eggs.

Yes this is the one I found it in the Home farming magazine and it looked very good. I have even borrowed the actual book from the library. Its brilliant but even though putting it in the fridge is supposed to make it less wet i still have problems trying to keep it from sticking to my hands when getting it ready. It is really funny because I have been making bread for the past 50years and am quite used to working with yeast etc but this dough has so far not lived up to my expectations and i'm sure its me and not the dough. Anyway I'll keep trying because the finished product looks very good..
