There is a very good slow cooker thread around the Vine, somewhere. On there you will find a Lamb Shank recipe, which is fantastic. Mr.G loves it. I always find that there's too much sauce, so I just buy a load of lovely cheap Lamb Neck and do a second batch the next day, and freeze it.

I know I'm no cook, but I like food enough to have a go, and I'm a bung it all in, kind of a gal. Also, if you're lazy or short of 'faffing' time, you can bung in chopped onion, diced chicken breast, and a jar of sommat that takes your fancy (Thai Green Curry being my current fave). When you come home, open the door, and there's just the best smell!

Yeah, I saw that, might revisit it. Sounds like my sorta thinking G4! That's exactly what I was thinking. Some meat cubed up, with some chopped tomatos and some onion, perhaps some mixed beans. Simple and straight forwards.

Don't forget if you're using dried beans you need to boil them for ten minutes before you add them to the mix.

Thank you, RL, just been skimming the recipe thread trying to figure that out. So boil for ten and then just throw in, I guess.

Taking things too literally VC? Well let me just say - you should turn the thing on to whatever temp once you've put everything in............not forget like I did today!
And for the record for corned beef, you use vinegar and brown sugar..........saltpetre....dear oh dear, will we never bring you people into the (what century is it?)

pfft, curry jars. I just made a proper one, from scratch. Jam jar curries,I ask you.

I am going to steel myself into making something tomorrow evening. Got some slow cook cuts, a butter nut, a swede. Shall see what gets brewed up!

Lol not for the curry .. She says it doesn't smell as much as doing it in a pan!
The last curry I made was from spices nt a mix but I am lazy sometimes ... Mind you I have to send my partner to his mums when I have curry as he can't stand the smell.

When right next door does garlic chicken I am though!

Think there was a curry one in the season to taste bit, G4. Tikka Masala, TGC, have no idea! I will always share, just have to get some grapes showing they've tried them!

I have a can of borlotti beans to throw in, they are in water. Should I boil them first and then throw in?

Canned beans don't need any more cooking - you could eat them straight from the tin. So just lob them in!!

Most of our canned beans say rinse them, but otherwise they are ready

I've got pea and ham soup on now. Lots of herbs and spring onions from the garden.

The Corned beef done last night is just beautiful. Shredded beef on lunches this week. If I can stop people theiving it everytime they go to the fridge.

HH I'm a terribly lazy curry cook! If Aldi wasn't so nice with their jars I'd probably have to learn! Well one of these days when I've got the time to get all the bits and pieces I will follow some of your recipes and have a go. Surely if I can do sourdough I could make a curry?

                                Wahey! Success

And a full tummy. Got up like a woman possessed, and set it all up. Chopped up the veggies. Got some mint and rosemary from Dad's garden. A box of cheap cuts. And eight hours later, had a bit of all right. Had some good flavour too. Coriander as well as the garam masala, chilli powder and fresh chillies. Still have some left for tomorrow.
