We won't eat it plain, it has to be smuggled into a curry or a stew or something

          Chard pizza.

The crust is one of the best we've found and the seasoned oil is brilliant.

What I did last night. I cooked the shredded chard in a little oil with a splash of water and some finely sliced garlic until it was cooked. I boiled some new tatoes and sliced them. In a mini mixer, I plonked a couple or red peppers from a jar, some anchovies, some capers, some garlic, some tomato paste and some home-made fromage frais and whazzed it up.
In a gratin dish, layered the chard, tatoes, paste, repeat, cover with grated cheese and bake. It was surprisingly good!

Swiss chard recipes for the freezer

I've been giving bags away, but neighbours are starting to avoid me

I don't mind freezing leaves and stalks (which I do separately), but has anyone got some ideas for variations - soup, casseroles, side dishes?

Make a chickpea curry, using a good curry paste if you like, then add sliced chard leaves for last few minutes of cooking. Healthy, delish!

Thanks Raybon - it's never occurred to me to use chickpeas in a curry - (usually chickpea and tomato soup). It's curry night tomorrow, so I'll give it a go

Why not just blanch, bag and freeze as is?

Because the OP is already doing that (although not sure they're blanching, I never do) and wanted alternatives

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
