Damson Recipes?

I have a nice source of damsons, now I've managed to identify them.

Do you have any tried an tested recipes for damsons. I've found the following on the net, anyone have a family favourite?

Damson ice cream (nigel slater)
Damson curd (variation on nigellas cranberry curd)
Damson cobbler (BBC)
Damson Gin (NS)
Damson Jam (HFW)

Any others?

I've never found any. Bit boring damsons - you get so many of them, then can't do anything with them except make jam or pies

Ahhhhhhh...... I've been watching them for about 2 months develop into nice plump round fruit, 2 days ago I said to myself another week and they'll be perfect. Past them this morning on one of my walks and the trees were stripped. There was well over 30lbs of fruit on there and thats being conservative.

Oh other foragers.......I'm gutted I didn't there first. That'll teach me.

I always but always make damson jelly - damson, damson & elderberry, damson & apple etc. It's always a big favourite.

Damson Port is delicious, easy to make and uses up damsons left over after jam making etc.

Love the idea of damson curd! Have you tried making damson and apple pies or damson crumbles? They're so delicious (plenty of sugar!)

I met the person who cleared the Damson bushes this morning, a nice lady, she used to be a teachers assistant to my daughter when she was in nursery school. She added them all to vats of gin because she thought they were really plump sloes.

I'm going to cry in the corner over by ere now.....

^^^^^^^I know there's such a thing as too many damsons and not enough recipes, but that is just, just, such a wicked waste of fruit .....unless she lets you have them when she's strained the gin.

Damson gin pie would be a great stand-in for Xmas pud....
