  • Re-potting Jam

Hi - bit of an odd one here
I accidentally defrosted the last of my raspberries thinking they were strawberries, to make jam. So I had to make raspberry jam. Thing is I wanted to save the fruit for later so I could make jam for Xmas hampers. I'm going to order fancy jars for these hampers.
Sooo, can I take the rapsberry jam out of the jars they are currently in, heat it up and repot into the new fancy jars when they arrive? Any concerns about doing that?
    Thanks

    I would say yes.
I would do it, I think I have done it before. As long as the new jars are sterilised (I put mine in the oven whilst I'm making the jam) and the jam has boiled then I think it should be OK.

Don't see why not, i've had to do it once or twice when I wasn't happy with the set, just make sure everthing is sterilized and you bring jam up to boil again, hot jam, hot jars hey presto!

You could cook your raspberries then re-freeze them and make jam later on.

Thanks Bren, I didnt know that. It's done now. I had the jars in the oven before I realised the bag had raspberries in it
