I think with the next batch, I might adjust the temp down by 10 degrees to 140 for my fan oven. They have a definite bite to them, which is good as most of my biccies normally turn out like flat cakes!!

Mine are scrummie too! I got twenty seven with a "taster" size spare. I used a small ice-cream scoop to measure amounts then halved each ball and rolled by hand. Might make some of my variation ideas over the weekend. *Note to self, buy golden syrup, more oats, chocolate ......
Thanks Scary - this recipe has been given the honour of being copied into my notebook!xx

          Brilliant news Patch,

I fear that I could stock a shop with Golden Syrup, Treacle, Muscavado sugar and all the other things I can't get here. You'd think there is a siege on whenever I go back to UK shopping

I used some sucre vergeoise which is the really dark brown sugar mixed with some white and they are good!!! Brilliant recipe, Scarey. I can also confirm that they're very good for breakfast

Do you think honey will work ok instead of syrup?

Nic made some as per recipe yesterday. We now have quite a lot of biscuits. Although not as many as the recipe said so they are huge.
Very nice though! The recipe is a keeper!

This is very similar to a recipe I use though it uses half a tin of condensed milk and the kids like raisins on theirs!

                    225g butter,
                    225g sugar.
                    170g condensed milk
                    200g oats
                    150g SR flour
                    150g raisins
                    Half teaspoon cinnamon

Sounds lovely Scarlet - especially with the cinnamon in it

Today I made a batch of these for my brother - several were scoffed by him warm from the cooling rack and pronounced delicious. Great recipe!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
