Yoghurt makers.

Hi. Does anyone make their own yoghurt?
My mom made it years ago and it was disgusting. Even the cat who would eat anything apart from sugar puffs and tinned fruit wouldn't touch it.
I know there are several kits out there and was wondering if one was better than the others.
My kids eat yogurt by the shed load. So was hoping to make my own and then add my own grown fruit. Kids will eat fruit but hope to get to get them more on home made and less shop with hidden sugars etc.

I have an Easiyo (sp?) one, you buy the mixes but you can just make it from milk and a natural yoghurt starter. Not used it for a bit but it's great in summer with my soft fruit.

I make mine in a thermos flask.
Takes about 24 hrs.

I now use an electric Lakeland one but I've still got the Salton one I bought is the 70's if I need to make

Easy yo is lovely but very expensive.

Friend just said about making it in a slow cooker.

I asked my sister and she has told me she used that easy yo stuff. But like you said alldigging it is very expensive.

Homemade yoghurt - Channel4 - 4Food

Just whole milk- (no powdered) and a good quality yog like yeo or Racheals Farm....full fat.
I heat the milk in the microwave and add the live yog to that.
My flask is prewarmed.

I fill it almost to the top, so it's over 500ml of milk.

Shake it several time over the next 24 hrs then leave in the fridge in a jug once ready. It'll seem thicker after another day.

You can still make it with fat free live yog . Greek yog is even more creamy!

Ma does that.

Heats the milk, puts into a tupperware box. Adds saved yoghurt from previously made batch, for the live cultures. Leave over night in living room, wrapped up in various blankeys.

I had an easy yo but, you're right. they are expensive - the sachets. I'm going to have a go at Nicos's recipe

I use the Easy Yo flask and make my own using milk and a live yoghurt as a starter. I then keep using a bit of the made yoghurt to keep it going. Works well if you do it frequently as it needs to stay 'alive'. That way the cost is just the milk you use - way cheaper than the satchets.

Nic you can also freeze your starter I use ice cube trays they're just the right size.

Easyyo thingy here too - but looking to try with HFW's mehtod of using some existing live yog as a starter
