Plum overload!!!

Help!! We are picking a couple of kg of plums every couple of days at the moment and I'm running out of things to do with them! Have done jam and chutney, crumble (lots of!!), frozen some, plum liqueur, plum tarte tatin (tonight's offering) and plum upside down cake (mega disaster but might try again). The neighbours are also now well stocked up. Any ideas of other things to try???

Or perhaps pickled? I've never pickled them myself though often do pickled pears ...

Now fruit leather sounds like a great idea. Will probably have to skip the wine (much though I'd love to try it) as we don't have any of the equipment....my husband is tempted though as he fancies his hand at cider making!

The pickled plums also sound quite intriguing...I can see them going well with cold meat!

If they are yellow plums that go sour when cooked, make plum curd. It's divine. I also stew them and bottle and add to curries. For purple sweet plums I make plum sauce using a variety of spices. Five spice for anything Asian and cloves/ginger etc for autumn.

Oh yes plum curd would be lovely. I make curd with rhubarb and gooseberries.

Pickled plums would go lovely with cheese and cold meats. I serve pickled pears with blue cheese, really scrummy.

Its 3 years since I gave up the lottie and its plum tree, but we are still eating plum jam. Stone em,roll em in sugar and freeze them. You can use em for all sorts in the spring.

plum curd.....sounds amazing. Sadly they are purple plums rather than sour yellow ones, although I'm now tempted to put a yellow plum tree on the lottie just for curd....!!

ETA - just realised I have a bag of gooseberries in the freezer...I feel some curd coming on!

Plum overload here as well. Made 39 pots of plum jam over the weekend. I have had a bumper harvest. From just one tree i picked 49 lbs of plums and that was after one of the branches broke off a few weeks ago and it was also laden down.

Try preserving in syrup (easy) or plum sauce for duck or even plum ketchup.

Plum leather belts were on that make your own sweets programme the other day (sorry can't remember the name of it)...looked delicious. Glad you got so many plums...I got absolutely nothing on my tree, think it's still too young.

have you tried plum vodka? just make it like you would made sloe gin.
