Grilling Veg ?

Maybe a daft one but I cannot see why or why not.
Can I use one of those electric grill plate things (George Foreman type things) to grill peppers and aubergines etc ?

Cannot use the grill on the cooker as it trips the electrics on the house after a short time. Also these would be easier if it works.

Thinking it may work but someone may say it "grills" but they taste wrong, as in burnt lines and no "grilled" taste.

Might be cheaper to fix the grill (sounds like the element needs replacing) than to buy a George Foreman grill?

Kirk...I'd get your cooker /electricity checked out if you haven't already...sounds like there is a fault somewhere.
I'd be worried about a fire risk to be honest.
It might be something cheap and easy to fix.
Better to be in the know than risk your safety!

Cooker "fault" is that the cooker is 25 years old and the trips are new. Simply different standards. Bit like cars - a new car 25 years ago does not pass the present emissions laws if it were a new car now. Simply cannot use the grill. No great problem as I never really used it a lot anyway.

That breaker may have the wrong trip value fitted and is too sensitive. They are available in a range of thresholds. However not bothered by the grill, when I used it I generally found it more of a problem then anything.

Any way to grilled veg, already have 2 electric grill things just wondered if useable/suitable or not.

Yup- I'd go for it....but high heat, so cut thinnish for the heat to get through to cook them!

It should work....I'm sure he grilled veg in the original advert.
I use the pan pictured in Nicos' post but suspect the golden rule for grilling veg still applies;
Oil on the veg, never the pan.

Not sure I agree with your analogy

I ain't an electrician, but presumably if the trip is going then there is current leakage to earth, thus there is an insulation fault of some sort (in a way that was not detected/detectable before), and therefore it is potentially dangerous

But if it trips, and you thus can't use it, safe to assume its safe perhaps?!
