What's this tinned oranges lark? Are they whole oranges with the peel on as well? Are they not full of preservatives?

I've never use it but I think it comes ready sliced in whatever thickness you want it coarse or fine. Bruno about preservatives, it's canned so am guessing that's the main way of it keeping.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I've just had a look at the l@keland tin. It contains oranges (or lemons), already cooked to the tender stage, with added pectin and ascorbic acid.

It's a concentrated preparation, so you have to add water as well as sugar. Boil it up and presto! - marmalade in about 30 minutes, start to finish!

Makes about 6lbs. All for £2.50 or less a tin, plus sugar

I'm with you Snadger ,only fresh Seville oranges will do,If your going to buy oranges in a can you may just as well buy the marmalade . I got mine in Waitrose and cook them in the slow cooker overnight before making them into marmalade I also like to add a drop of whisky just before jarring, and replace some of the white sugar with soft brown.
Ps I only drink beer that I've brewed these days either draught or bottled as if i'm out i'm driving
