    what's a glut?!
I've got ONE turnip out of a whole packet, so I am leaving it alone. Last year I got a few more, but they were tough, woody and slug-nibbled. Won't bother next year...not even the guinea pigs like them.

Did you know that boiling carrots takes half of the vitamins and goodness out of them. I always steam.

As for turnips, I use them in chowder's...

A bit late in the day but try this one ;-

Navet Glace ( sorry the accent doesn't come out)

Cook young Turnips cut in chunks until just cooked.

Drain and put in a pan with a generous lump of Unsalted Butter and a good sprinkle of Castor Sugar and about a table spoon of water or the water that the Turnips were cooked in.

Cook until the water has evaporated and the butter/suggar has gone a but sticky and covered the Turnips with a glaze.

Yummmmmmy but no good for the waistline or the colesterol

PS. You can do the same thing with Carrots
