The skin of the pod doesn't get thicker, as a sugarsnap does.

Sugar Ann is ok if you don't mind picking short peas.
Pea Sugar Ann Seeds from Mr Fothergill's Seeds and Plants
I'm still trying to get a good tall sugarsnap tbh. I got some from an American supplier, but the seed isn't true, as they aren't all fat poddedSo this year I'm seed saving from the good plants, trying to build up a stock of seed.

Sugar Magnolia and Magnolia Blossom Tendril peas are both tall, tasty sugarsnaps. Sugar magnolia is purple podded, though the purple colour isn't 100% stable.
I prefer sugar snaps to pretty much any other pea.http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia
