I have one big marrow about 6.5 pounds. Cannot imagine how I can turn into very tasty dish without the usual boil style cooking which I tends to serve with cheese sauce. I don't intend to finish the marrow in one go, maybe divide into 2 or 3 goes.

Need tastiest recipe for marrow

I just use them in any recipe where courgettes need to be chopped up or grated anything from muffins to cakes, bread, stuffed pasta and today's effort Chile without the Carne which was great but my chillis turned out to be hotter than I thought...
As my courgettes have been so crap this year, i've been taking donations from other allotments holders, still have two enormous brutes to use up, did have five, but have been working my way through...
They do seem to keep well in a cool place.

i have a rather odd american recipe called "zuccinni bread", unfortunately it's not some savoury bread, but rather cakey and sweet. i added chocolate and it came out like a moist slightly chewy chocolate cake, a bit like carrot cake. i thought it was quite nice, but some other people didn't agree! heh heh.
for a nice recipe though, you could try nigel slater's vegetable crumble. it's meant to have potatoes and courgettes in, but i've used marrows and it works just as well - in fact it even tastes good, which is more than i'd say for most marrow meals we've tried cooking! it's basically marrow, potatoes, rosemary and cheese under a breadcrumb crumble. pm me if you'd like the full recipe and i'll copy it out for you.

Thanks for all your ideas. Marrow are quite boring vegetable and I thought it needing a bit of zing, jazzing up to make me want to eat. Anyway I came up with this idea of using grated marrow to make something like onion bhajis. Instead of using onions, just use lots of grated marrow.Food for Free

Try stuffed Marrow
Stuffed marrow is absolutely gorgeous.
Pre-heat the oven to 180C.
Halve the marrow along the length and scoop out the seeds
Make up a shepards pie mix but have it thicker than normal, (mince, onions, carrots, gravy and worcester sauce) allow to cool.
Fit the marrow on oiled foil enough to wrap the marrow as a whole.
Spoon the mince mix into one half of the marrow and pile slightly and then place the othe half on top and wrap with the remaining foil so none of the juice can escape.
Pierce with a skewer after about 40 mins if it goes through easily its ready if not leave for a further ten minutes and check again, repeat until cooked.
I find that this is enough on its own as it is very filling, its a family favourite and many have used it outside of my family too! Enjoy.
