My tree surgeon also dumps all his wood shavings in my yard if he is local, saves him time and petrol if he has several “dumps” for him to drop off locally. He also gets tea and cake!

If you've got a big barn, it might be worth hiring a trailer for a couple of days and collecting it locally and dumping a proper few loads into the barn to season... cheaper than buying the gear and a trailer and as space isn't an issue, more time efficient than cutting it, splitting it, etc all yourself...

Just learned that there is no one local to manage the process for the moment. Call back in a few months

Have you got many trees?!coppicing may be an option? We’ve not bought any wood living here - nearly 20 year!

Well worth looking into. Our current trees are leylandii. Need to calculate area required and see if it could be incorporated into planned chicken area and for windbreaks
