I have a very nice deep freeze from Freecycle.. derusted and cleaned it works very well.
DO unto others as you would be done by is my motto. SO let others out, be helpful, polite and do not lose temper (or try not to).
I'm afraid we have a load of muppets driving fast so if they tailgate me I stick rigidly to the speed limit.. and slow down to let others out. With any luck those following will have a heart attack:-)) (not meant)
I have been soaked in recent heavy rain when clearing drains and a 4x4 goes through 1 metre of water - on a 30 mph road beside a school- at what must have been 50mph. I can laugh at it.. now!
Deep breaths, dear, calm down.Think only happy thoughts!! People are as they always were. Some good, some bad. Some rude, some polite and thoughtful. Some sweet and nice ,some b*******s.
And no,I don't want a breadmaker. If you look in your local paper at the for sale ads.I will bet you will find at least one ad. per night selling a breadmaker!!
My daughter bought one and for about three weeks it was the best thing since-what??-sliced bread?-now it is consigned to the cupboard where it might one day come in useful.Along with her coffee bean grinder et.al.
Put it in your cupboard and one day--who knows!!!
My Dearest Two-Sheds,
Thank you for your kind offer of the breadmaker, but I have no real need of one. I do so sincerely hope that you find a taker at the earliest moment.
OK sarcasm over! I totally agree about rude people, and I very often feel that I want to respond in kind, then I think to myself, "why should I sink to their low level? If they haven't got the politeness, gumption or inclination to come to my level then they are not worth lowering yourself for!"
Thats my rant over.

I agree that to at least a large amount, it's not nature but nuture that defines who you are.
When I was little, I was taught how to speak 'properly' and have manners, and I was laughed at for it (where I grew up, and still live, sounding posh is very out of place). But, it's put me in good stead and I think it helps you get further.
I'm doing the same with my little boy, and the times we get comments from teachers, relatives, random shop cashiers about how polite and calm he is, it kind of speaks for itself that we're not doing him an injustice but bringing him up this way
There's a family across the road from us who's son was in my little boy's nursery class last year and he's always in trouble at school for hitting other children etc. But then when you hear tha language that comes out of his Mum's mouth at the top of her voice, it's hardly any wonder

BTW, my rant wasn't about Freecycle at all, but about how rude people are.
I can't help thinking that a lot of the problem is because nobody challenges these people on their behaviour. I don't want to get into a ruck about it, not worth it, but I'd really like to have a smart clever retort for when somebody disses me. Something along the lines of "not at all, it was my pleasure" or "sorry, I didn't realise I was in your way. Do forgive me" when they barge through me.
Don't tell me sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. It's irony, and that's clever sarcasm so its allowed
So, tell me some of your cleverest retorts please ...

" don't you know who I am"
say sorry, but no, then address all the people standing near by, and say.......
Does anyone know this gentleman as he seems to have forgotten who he is? (or lady)
Headfry, my replies to your 'Don't you know who I am' are either, 'Is there any reason why I should?', or 'No, but if you ask Matron she'll probably tell you.
Another irritation is when you are going into a shop a few feet behind someone else. They don't look behind them, just let the door slam in your face. When I open the door, they get a very loud 'THANK YOU'!!!
I don't know if it's me, but I find the young girls have the fouler mouths than the boys.
When I've been on the receiving end of a tirade of effing and blinding, I put on my best June Whitfield voice (from Ab Fab), and say well dear, I don't know what Finishing School you went to, but if were you I'd sue!!
The young don't seem to have any decent honourable role models to look up to. They are either junkies or drunkies.
In a traffic jam, I once angered the guy in front of me, he thought I was too close to him (we were either stationary or crawling along).
He got out of his car (my window was open) and started effing and jeffing at me, so I suddenly went "Shh! What's that?" and he stopped talking to listen. I said "Much better" and wound my window up. When he gesticulated at me, I blew him a kiss.
we cant blame people for being rude, from the age of 3 we ask their opinions on what they want to eat or wear or what they want to do then they go to school thinking whatever they want to say or do is acceptable and the teachers have no power to stop them so by the time they leave school weve lost them.

Loving that one! I might steal it.

A lot of the problem with teenagers is that, as parents, we spend two years teaching them to walk and talk, and 16 years telling them to sit down and shut up!
