  • Vine Nursery Rhymes

    Rary, rary
    Quite contrary
    How does your garden grow?
    With Seaweed and shells
    And little bluebells
And begonias, all in a row.

VC or not VC it really doesn't matter
      that little old Welsh woman
      really likes to chatter

her garden trials, there's no denial
      is sometime quite astounding
she scatters seeds among the weeds
then gives the ground a pounding

      her methods though different from
      the norm
actually does take on some form
with seeds and plants from A to Z
you will find them all set out in beds

but no matter what you think
      her garden plans will make
      you blink
she sits and dreams of some
      weird scheme
to make you cough and splutter
for after all she is the leading
      NUTTER
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Member of the Nutters Club but I think I am just there to make up the numbers

        That grand chicken VC
        She had ten thousand seeds,
She sowed them up at the top of the hill
And she chopped down all the weeds.

And when they came up they were good,
And when they grew big they were great,
When VC picked some of every one
She had dinner on a plate.

            I am a nightly thief.

            Boo Boo black slug,
            Can you spare a bit?

Slugs and snails they sat on the wall,
Slugs and snails said "We'll eat it all"
But we've beer traps and nematodes, egg shells and lime,
So watch out you molluscs you're on borrowed time.

Lumpty Dumpty sat on the wall
'cos Lumpty Dumpty was really quite small.
Sitting high up there made Lumpty feel tall
And piles of old tyres would cushion her fall.

I had a little new plot, nothing would it grow
But a broken milk churn and a rusty crow
I dug and dug and dug again
I filled up skip loads three
                  And now I'm growing sunflowers
                  bigger than a tree...

                    Lavendar plain
                    Won't grow near me, dilly-dilly
'Cos we get too much rain.

Sing a song of sixpense, a pocket full of jute
Four and twenty blackbirds, ate all my fruit
When the fruit was finished, the birds began to sing
Wasn't that a good reason to bring the netting in?

Humpkin Pumpkin sat on the dirt
Humpkin Pumpkin had a growth spurt
All the plot growers who worked as a team
Couldn't lift Pumpkin to light Halloween

                            ‘‘Twas the night before seeding.
                            And all round the house,
VC was grabbing as quiet as a mouse,
                            She had armfuls of seeds,
                            To spread the next day,
And, if they all grew whey hay hay.

Early next morning with no sound of a lark,
                            She stood in her garden,
                            Under cover of dark.

Ripped open packets were scattered about,
As she bimbled and sashayed the seeds all about.

                            Now grow you bluffers,
                            She muttered out loud,
Grow big and healthy and make me feel proud.

                            Of being a grower,
                            Like millions and more,
Who tend to the earth to put food in the store.

                            I’m proud to be potty,
                            She told little Spud,
As I care for our planet and you know that’s all good.

Youngest used to have nursery rhymes every night... I used to adapt them as we went to make him laugh.

The versions with all the poops were his favourite.

                              Love yours, Lumpy.
