Bonsai Yew and Rowan from seed

Was out for a walk yesterday and collected some Yew and Rowan seeds.
Thought I might try for some Bonsai trees.
I have popped them in the fridge for a few weeks as I heard they need a period of chill.
When should I sow them.
Complete novice so any advise appreciated.

Note: I am quite accomplished at bonsai veg like leeks and beetroot etc.

No real need to bother with the fridge at this time of year.

Remove the fleshy parts of the seeds either by soaking or peeling them off with your fingers. Put the seeds in damp compost in pots - wrap these in plastic bags and leave outside until Spring - try not to put them anywhere where mice can get at them easily ie up off the ground somewhere.

be a bit careful with the Yew seeds as they are poisonous.

I did a bonsai Yew in the 1980's, miniturised ok, but the shape wasn't much to write home about, you need that wire to add shape and interest, I think that is the skill in it.

I've grown primroses from seed where they were scattered on top of a little seed tray filled with multi-purpose compost, then the tray was covered with another one put on top. I left it outside to get the frosty cold weather (I think the gardening term is called stratification) and they germinated the following spring. I have bought my niece two small bonsai trees and she's doing really well with them because she seems to have the eye as to how to continue the lovely shape without using any wires.
