  • It's raining! Got to say it again I'm so pleased: it's raining!

So far this year less than 150 mm in total according to official records. Very welcome it is. On and off raining hard then a bit of drizzle. Probably just about perfect for the land. Mind you, the downside is all my tomatoes will be splitting and the calçot bulbs will be drowning. Ah well, better that than no rain.

Bit of a hiatus work-wise. Started a big job, only to be told to put it on hold as they want to make changes. What's the betting it comes back amended at the same time as another big job arrives...?

Anyway, if this rain keeps up, I'll run out of things to do except have an afternoon nap. Brilliant.

Have a good day, guys. Big hug, Jay.

Sounds like a very successful day all round AP!.. well done. Always lovely to hear about events like that.

Remember Lottie that it's not a race! And nope, not shameful at all to have some help! You have done amazingly well so far

Good news there Snadge...sounds like she's doing well and will be up and about pretty soon!?
I love your gate...very impressed -and that dragon one Snoop is amazing!
There is a wood artist back in the uk whose signature is a little mouse on his carving...had you thought about adding s little something like that Snadge when it's finished?

Good to see you Jay -keep your chin up lass it's hard not to expect the worst but things quite possibly won't be as bad as you are bracing for. Two weeks is a long wait though xx

I have quite a busy few days ahead -out for lunch with a friend who is passing through the area.
      ( I know...what diet?!)

Got a full day tomorrow with seed swap preparations including a press interview .
I'll try and get a bit started this afternoon/evening.
I'll prepare a quick and simple lunch for peeps so we can crack on. We have our final gite guest leaving on a Friday ...then have decided to close them both off until the end of January....so we can rip apart our lounge...right back to the stone walls, rewire, refloor, new staircase...
Looks like we're going to have a crazy winter ahead!
So Lottie...when you've finished at your end, would you like to join us here and give us a helping hand????

      So first things first...cuppa anyone?
Mouseman made lots of wooden stuff and added a little mouse to show it was made by him. I don't intend to do a lot of metalwork but have a few ideas for smaller projects. It is quite easy to personalise metalwork so might add a personal touch.
I want to make an internal gothic inspired decorative wood storage box to sit next to the woodburner and if OH doesn't like it, well, it might find its way on to ebay!

      • We have sunshine this morning and the overnight temp only dropped to 15 degrees in the greenhouse, so my tommies may all ripen after all.

I have some lovely green Ailsa Craig tomatoes which I hope will ripen. The plants were caught by frost early in there life but I just stripped off the frosted leaves and thought I woud give them a chance to recover. They have recovered really well with a huge late crop of,as yet, green tomatoes. Fingers crossed.

          • Afternoon,

I've got a rotten sore throat, so feeling sorry for myself, but still managed to move the fuschia out of the big barrel tub, which was collapsing around it, half of it is now in a nice new terracotta pot.
The other half didn't have a fair share of the root, so might not make it The wall by the side of my door looks much tidier now though.
I was really surprised that the root had actually grown through the bottom of the barrel and the path underneath it

That's me done for the day, now, feel shattered. Armchair, book and cups of tea are calling me

            Have a good'un!

            • Good afternoon, I have been busy making permits for my daughter, I thought these were a thing of the past but just shows fashion goes round in circles, I am quite sure Snoop will be happy with that with her gardening attire, in fact I think it will please quite a number of you Grapes, just as well you have us young ones to keep fashion moving Snadger I am growing Ailsa Craig this year and they have given a great return so will be growing them again, well need to move as I have things to do, oh meant to say Thelma your poor part of the fuchsia might come through if you cut it back as fuchsia plants are great survivors
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                • ^Yes, I was a bit surprised by permits. Not the kind of thing I'd generally wear round the garden. Only things that occur to me are "pairs of mitts". Anyway, doubtless all will be revealed (figuratively speaking).

I think Shirley tomatoes have Ailsa Craig somewhere in there heritage and look similar. The main difference is that AC are a heritage variety and the seed can be kept.

In the past when I have grown them they have been a bit prone to greenback and blossom end rot but this season they are fine.

I'm having difficulty imagining Snoop gardening draped in pelmets (its e, not i).

My daughter is old enough to go wherever she wants but she always seeks my permission before doing anything or going anywhere, right need to go as there is a herd of cow's flying by

You spell it how you want I spell it the way I want and I spell it the way I say it
But I am definitely not going into a discussion on how I imagine Snoop draped for gardening
