  • Good morni g all.
    Nice sunny morning here.
Pitch and putt beckons today and we are playing for Christmas turkeys.
Cant believe it's coming to that time already.

Nicos, you certainly lead a busy life.
    Have a good day all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

    • Morning(just), been to the farmers market in Forfar to get our meat for the month, it was also a livestock sale at the same venue, so chaotic didn't begin to cover the car parks. Nice and sunny so may go out with the camera again later.

      • Evening all. Been an easy going day for me and apart from making a couple of ropes of onions and starting to sort out my exhibition shallot bulbs I did now exciting. Well it is the weekend

        • Good evening mostly dry today, did a little bit of work in the field this morning, basicly removing some of the heavy thatch covering the ground so that I could drive a fork into the ground to loosen it a bit hoping that it will help surface water drain away, after that we had a hospital visit as a friend has landed in a H.D ward just hope she gets home next week.
Yes Nicos I am impressed with your decision to purchase, as I always think you should "cut a stick when you see it" and I do like to see that word, reduced, on things I want to buy right I am off to have a read of something as there is nothing of interest on TV. Goodnight

          • Meant to add I tried cooking beetroot in the microwave, it's the first time I have done that and was pleased with the results saves quite a bit of time and tastes just as good now need to try an onion as that was one of the joys when I was younger, coating an onion in clay and letting it bake at the side of a fire, well it was actually an oven where all the cooking was done but I don't want VC to know I can remember when that was the norm

                • Mornings!
Mild but drizzle here as well Have to find my mac and wellies to fetch veg from the plot this morning - that's bound to be ankle deep in mud, what fun Plot clearing for winter will have to wait, it seems..
Think I'll settle for a Boxset or book this afternoon, instead.

                  Have a good'un

                  • Good morning all.
Not just raining, it's absolutely pouring down.
So dark the house lights are on.
A day for indoors with a book.
                    Have a good one all.

                      • Good afternoon, a dry start this morning so after church I got out to do some gardening in the field, gave it a good rake then started turning it over this is the first I have done any digging for quite a while so hope the legs are up to it, though while I was digging it made me realise how it has a calming effect when you are working so really enjoyed the work unfortunately rain stopped any more progress though I suppose a couple of hours is enough to start with, but the pleasure of the digging makes me wonder how long it will take me to dig the full fieldClick image for larger version

                        • That previous photo showed the width of the field here is one to show the length of it and also some of the nettles that are growing in the area and that to me indicates the fertility in the area, also for information when I did the hill walking it was an indicator of where people used to dwell and a lot of those were in remote areas

                          • Looks a fantastic "garden" rary. Once you've cleared these beds you may be expected to do the rest.

I'm here with another of my tales from the supermarket which will amuse you, rary!

A rather mature gentleman starting talking to me -

Did I live locally? - Yes
Was it a big house? - Big enough.
Did I have children? - No
Was I married? - etc, etc.
Do you live alone?...............(Of course I said No!)

                            Then the punch line...........
                            You can't be over 70? I smiled...........
You don't look that old, must be because you're so small.

So rary, these are not the questions to ask a stranger, even if you do lust after her yellow stickers!
He has promised to continue our chat next Sunday. That'll be another one I have to dodge between the aisles.

                            • Today started off really chilly in fact my phone said it was zero degrees out. That said, the dahlias didn't get blackened so they survive to another day . Collecting my order of peat and composts for next year tomorrow if that makes sense and then it all starts again for another season.

                              • Mornin n'alln'all
Had a great day yesterday -even though it rained!
OH's burpday outing to the coast for a massive seafood platter went down a treat
I also had managed to make him a chocolate cake the day before using Scarlet's incredibly rich recipe too
                                So...a great day .

I think it's rained all night here but it's really quite warm. Yesterday was 21C and its forecast the same today. Perfect grass and weed growing weather!
I'd really love to try and nip to a rather hidden place where I know edible mushrooms grow -it's perfect mushroom growing weather too. I just fancy a wild mushroom omelette sometime soon.

This afternoon we are having a press photo for our seedswap and thank goodness we are very much on track. Just need to bake a few cakes using home produce.
At the moment I'm thinking of a hazelnut sponge , A beetroot and chocolate cake, Lemon curd cake and a lemon and orange cake. If time I might make some chocolate and chilli buns too.
I do happen to have somehow collected 8 dozen eggs...so those should use some up!

                                So..best crack on...
Enjoy your day peeps...I can't wait for mine to slow down a tad!
