  • As I have finished my household chores, and it seems bright outdoors,I think I may try and sneak a couple of hours at the allotment.
I have spuds to lift and kales to plant.I also need to plant my red japanse onion sets and some garlic.

I will just blag it when I get there and will probably finish up doing none of the above, but do something else instead.

    • ^^ know the feeling!....I've still not yet collected in our hazelnuts
They're not going anywhere but the grass is growing higher around them by the day
I've spent the day sewing, but need to go and collect the car soon ( repaired tyre)

I was just thinking that it's only a few more days before the clocks go back....this coming Saturday night/Sunday morning yep?

      • Evening all,

once again hoovering up leaves for my octogenarian last customer with her sit and ride mower this morning followed by dismantling her fruit cage ready for her big move.

Managed another couple of hours in the plot this aft and finished pruning out the old rasp canes and also dug up a half dozen for my pal in the plot above and heeled them in in his plot ready for him to plant.

I had a look in his shed whilst there to check his mouse traps. He's been getting at least a couple every day and there were another two today with another couple of plots eaten clean but not sprung. Peanut butter certainly attracts them but do they just come in because they smell it? Something to ponder.

I've been demented for a few years now with mice in our plot. Haven't been able to harvest a single beetroot. Most are nibbled beyond recall with the others almost totally munched. I read the other day that used tea bags repel mice. Anyone any experience of that?

Had a lovely tea before I sat down here. Cod loin covered with pesto and breadcrumbs along with some roasted cherry tomatoes and cheesy red duke of york mash. So yummie

          Dark innit?

I have problems with voles AP...they've had fantastic fun munching their way through my carrots this year

I found this link the other day and was thinking about trying some of the plants as a deterrent ..

Too many jobs to choose from again, but health comes first, so it's the repeat prescription and flu jab vaccine collection to be the first port of call once the pharmacy is open.

Time for a brew methinks....glad the heating is on already!

AP I've heard of using peppermint tea bag but I've not tried it, I see peppermints also mention in the link Nicos posted.

                    • Mornings!
More of the grey, damp and dismal today, but not as cold as yesterday was, thank goodness.
Still not 'washing on the line weather', so will have to dry some on the radiators, hate doing that but needs must.
Not sure what to do today, probs finish the curtains, if I can find the gathering tape I bought and put away somewhere.

                      Have a good'un

                            • Morning all. Was up late and thought there might even be a frost by the time I got up but no, just chilly and a heavy dew.

Got a busy start to the day. Work to get through and send off before a visit to the doctor's. Then some shopping to top up supplies.

Hope you all have a good day.

It's a beautiful sunny morning here.
                                Off to the market.
After that it will be a long walk by the sea.
                                Have a good day all.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
