  • Mornings!
Another damp and miserable one, but not as cold today - always a plus.

My legs and back are sore after a bad night, so can't be going up the ladder to fit the new curtain rail and blind. Bummer, was looking forward to finishing the room.
So - probably take a gentle walk round the block, to stretch my legs and get the paper and some milk, maybe go as far as look at the allotments.. but that's about it for today.

    Have a good'un

Gosh Thelma....you're struggling at the moment aren't you? Hope things settle quickly.
We're just off to the local saw mill to try and find some reject oak planks for shelving etc. Not cos we're penny pinching, but because it usually has some lovely knots which is more inkeeping with the old house.
It's astounding how far dust and grit can travel inside a house isn't it?

        Aurora Bernie?...wow-how fantastic!
When we were in Sweden there was one most nights apparently, but hidden behind the snowclouds...but all that snow was almost as exciting)
Our friends used an app to check the extent of the auroras-have you got one?

        Right...best nip off

        See ya later peeps

          • Good afternoon cold but dry today had to go to collect some tiles for my son, actually it has been a week of collecting things for the family had to get something for our daughter on Tuesday then for our grand daughter on Wednesday Thursday coffee morning then shopping for our selves, once back home today I had 3hrs in the garden doing some tidying up and planting daffs, tulips and hyacinths and though it was dry it felt very cold and OH wouldn't share her bodywarmth to heat them up now going to make the tea then have a read of a book so enjoy your weekend and happy gardening
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

            • Afternoon all,

we didn't have a ground frost at home this morning but we had a top of the car one .

I made it into the plot again and once again took in some spent tomato compost. Jings it was cold at the plot. I was already wearing a tee shirt and a fleecy top and a heavy duty fleece jacket but I had to add another cardigan. Brrrrrh

Anyway, I lifted my spray chrysanths and got them packed up and into the plot shed safely covered with compost and a goodly covering of fleece.

The remnants of my disastrous celery crop were lifted and the roots taken to the local tip, the canes in my pea cage were taken out of the ground, cleaned up and then put away till spring time. All in all a lot of work done in a short time

                  • Mornings, said quietly for those having a lie-in

Wind whistling down the chimneys this morning, but the cold hasn't got down South yet, 10C overnight in the greenhouse and 15C outside now, it's very damp. The overnight dough hasn't risen much, so have to let it warm up and rise a bit more before baking, so I'm off to get the paper and treat myself to a bun for breakfast.

Have a lovely weekend, whatever you're up to

                      Lovely morning here too.
Managed to get our wood yesterday and I learned something new!
I already could recognise oak planks but for the first time saw ( and bought!!!!) oak with lots of little speckles in it -called 'cat's paw marks' in French - ever so pretty!

                      Nice link Burnie

                      Enjoy your weekend peeps...
