Still very grey here, but at least it is dry Mollycat has actually gone a wandering for the first time in ages. So, I must lift the last of the garden dahlias today, because the forecast is for much colder from tomorrow

                  Have a good'un

                  • Mornin n'alln'all
Fire is lit and the house is feeling cozy.
                    Another indoor day for me.
The winds have been amazing here over the past couple of days...so much so , I can hardly see the lawn and driveway due to fallen leaves
Once this weekend is over I'll get them raked up and composted, or mulched back into the lawn

It's a great time of year...all the free leaves for next year's compost, and so much rainfall to store ready for the inevitable water shortage this coming summer. There really are upsides to this dreadful weather aren't there

Late start for me today...I stayed up watching TV until the stupid hours which is unusual for me unfortunately I did happen to munch my way through a few too many Quality Street ( last year's which obviously couldn't be shared or go to waste!!!!!)

                    Right, time to crack on
                    See ya later peeps

                    • Poor Rary, the 'butt' of all jokes...

Anyway, busy day ahead here. Builders are getting in another frost-free couple of nights ahead to do a bit more concrete pouring. Mr Snoop has a barn to empty so that it can be reroofed. And I've got the usual mass of work to get through too.

And I've ordered some fancy flours and a piece of thick steel for pizza baking. Our pizzas are already pretty decent, so it will be interesting to see how good we can make them. Loads of friends coming with kids next weekend, so pizza should do for one meal. How's that for a good excuse? Plus, it all comes under the general heading of bread anyway...

Quality Street, Nicos. Ages since I've had them too. I'll be making Yorkshire puds today, by the way.

                      Have a good one, everyone.

                      • I spoke with OH Snoop about his bread and he says he uses a casserole dish!

Using milk with a tablespoon of cider vinegar instead of buttermilk.

The casserole dish keeps the bread temperature and humidity steady when you open the door to check the temperature

It's basically turning a casserole dish into a Dutch Oven..and you can make 'normal bread that way too...

                        • Good morning all.
                          Another dull grey day here.
Out for some shopping and to the library this morning.
Hopefully a bit of time in the garden this afternoon.
                          Have a good day all.

Like the look of that soda bread recipe. I was pondering the other day on making soda bread with a mixture of milk and yogurt to provide the acidity, but vinegar is a sure-fire bet. Thanks.

The cast-iron cocotte I've got is pretty much the same thing as your OH's casserole. Looking forward to seeing what wood the delivery man brings. He usually brings almond, but olive burns slightly hotter, so I'm hoping there will be a bit of that too.

Anyway, I'm cheating today: a Lidl rye bread mix that I've had since the spring, so it needs using up. One of the 'fancy' flours I've ordered is from France, Moulin de Colagne. Oddly, I think it's cheaper here at the moment (Black Friday offer) than in France. I'm hoping it's going to be like granary flour.

More sewing again today, but I need a brew to start the day.
Had a poorly chicken last night, so fingers crossed she's improved when I go to let them out....

I'm just listening to the 7.00 bells-always a joy to hear. When our village bells stop, the ones in the next village start off. Neither of them are on time

The house feels chilly this morning ...might need to get the heating coming on a tad earlier..

Enjoy your day y peeps! See ya later
Nicos is there a tune with the bells, or is it just a nice peal to them, also are there female bell ringers in france
