  • Hi all. OK update. Both myself and my daughter read the appointment letter and it looked as if op was yesterday. It turned out to be an appointment with the surgeon. Op day is 9th April. Appointments are coming in thick and fast. Lump has grown from pea size to a lot bigger. I’m scared.

This isn’t helped by my youngest uninviting me to his wedding on this Saturday.

I haven’t sown any seeds yet this year but I see the mag has an offer of free tomato plug plants. I think i’ll go for them. In fact i’m getting emails from several seed merchants with brilliant offers, so I think my card is about to go walking.

    • Evening all,

been a topper of a day here weatherwise. I had a ropey start though as I tripped over something when coming out of the garage and went the two letters after q over tip. Grazes and bruises but nothing serious. Prompted me to have a tidy up though.

It's been difficult managing the heat in the greenhouse because of the shiney we are being blessed with. Over 80 in the small greenhouse and over 90 in the big one. That's with all doors and vents open too.

I'm being demented with compost gnats on my heated bench. Never had this problem before but never used Mother Earth compost before either. Is there a connection?

JanieB, Hope all goes well with your op in April, our daughter has been urgently referred to culcospopy dept, it’s a worrying time I know girl. Does being uninvited to the wedding solve the present situation?
Spent an hour at a garden centre this morning, bought 4 border plants, so I’ve made a start.
Got lots of pots to start sorting out. Tomorrow looks good weather wise

          • Morning, everyone.

Another chilly start to the day and a really hard frost. But sunny now, so that won't last long. Rain forecast for Sunday, but one weather service is suggesting it won't fall in our little bit of the province.

Janie, hope everything goes well on 9 April. As for your son, not very sure what to say about you being uninvited. Must be a relief in some respects, but he's still your son, so it must be hard.

Not much other news. Off out for an unexpected lunch up the valley. That's too many in quick succession. All my attempts at losing weight are being undermined. We don't have to take anything today, just some whipped cream! Starting to think buying the food mixer was a mistake...

OK, on with the show. I've got a ton of work to do and this lunch will be a major interruption.

            Have a nice day, everyone.

            • Mornings!
The sun has come back! It's a bit hazy - but it's there, it was chilly first thing but warming up now.
I finished the patchwork bag late last night, it just needs steam ironing to tidy it up - and the floor needs hovering to pick up all the threads... One job ticked off the list, one still to do

Hopefully get the peas and sweetpeas planted on the plot, that'll clear some much-needed space in the greenhouse and cold-frame!

              Have a good'un

                  • Good morning all.
Nicos, yes, you took the sun from us.
It's as dull and grey as ditch water here.
Looking after my grandson until one o'clock and then it will be garden time.
JanieB, I will light a candle and a prayer for your opinion on April 9th.
                    Have a good day all.

                    • Morning all, glorious sunshine in my garden today. T shirt weather if you’re doing enough if you see what i mean.
Hubby had a big sort out of ‘his’ shed to fit in the new lawn mower.
I’m going to tidy up my planters and put a few new plants in, fingers crossed it stays nice. They are hardy anyway
                      Have a great sunshiny day

                      • Morning all, not been very chatty the last few days, just a bit 'meh' at the minute.

Sun was trying hard but nope, the clouds won and it's dull again. Seriously considering taking out a bank loan to buy a massive massive polytunnel or marquee or something to cover the whole garden just so I can get out there even if the weather is bad!

                        (I wont )

                        Have a good day all.

                        • Afternoon all. Rary is correct of course, the older we get the longer we hurt and the longer we take to heal. I've been in some discomfort all day but I've tried not to be seen hirpling around.

I was at my plot from 11.30 till the back of 3.00pm and most of the time was spent riddling a cartload of soil and then barrowing it into my plot. Annoyingly although I worked really hard it didn't look as though I had. Brilliant weather again though

                          • Good evening all.
Well, after a really full start to the day, the sun came out and it was beautiful.
Had good hours walk with grandson in his buggy.
After he was collected I spent the afternoon in the garden.
Planted out some radish and more spring onions.
Dead headed all the daffs and stored the containers away until next season.
Planted up some containers and window boxes with pansys OH bought while he was out.
All in all it was a lovely day weather wise.
Spent the late evening making soup and batch cooking.

                            • First one in... That's unusual. Better get the coffee on the go. I'll get the kettle boiling for them as wants tea.

Really, really hard frost this morning. Bit taken aback when I saw it. Amazing temperature difference between the daytime and the night time.

Busy day again today. Lunch up the valley again, as well. Takes the cooking strain off me, but I'm hankering for a plain omelette and salad at the moment. Cook eat and done in quarter of an hour rather than a two-hour affair because it's rude to leave any earlier. What an ungrateful so-and-so I am. Especially as we haven't had a bean stew recently.

On with the show. Have a lovely Saturday, everyone.

Ta for the tea, much appreciated!

Light frost here and now full sunshine.
Did a bit of weeding yesterday and caught the sun on my arms...suncream today if gets like yesterday.
Yeh...watch out peeps, it might feel chill, but the UV is creeping up!

Lawns mown again -it's become a once a week job now. Looks lovely now it's greened up.

Know what you mean about lunches Snoop. It becomes a bit of a waste of the day. Just because you are home doesn't mean you've not a paid job to do!
It's been hard for our friends and neighbours to come to terms with that. They wouldn't come wandering into hospital or law court just to have a chat and coffee and a catch up....and weekends in the summer are our busiest time with our gites.... They really just get confused! They seem to think we are on holiday and have time to chat n chat n chat ....
Lovely as it is though to be with them!
