  • Was back out at the greenhouse for a time and have topped up the raised bed, I had been thinking of putting a heating cable into it, but decided not to, will now let the soil heat up a bit then put some tomato plants into it and cover them at night with fleece, and just sitting here thinking, how could NS think I would say anything about her age I would have thought she would know from the way I show respect to VC that I never say anything bad to folk older older than me, especially women, it brings to mind the saying, Hell hath no no fury like a woman told she is old . Goodnight

        • Always takes a while for me to get used to changes in the landscape. Yesterday's roadworks look a bit brutal at the moment. But the holly oak will inevitably grow back (it's a menace) and a bit of gravel will help too.

Today's big event: visit the notary to sign for the house in the village. Sorting it out inside will be a mammoth clearing task, just when I wanted to be getting on with the veg patches. Poor Mr Snoop... I'll be slave driving for the next few weeks.

Other than that, more of the same. Paid work and a bit of gardening if I can fit it in.

          Have a great Tuesday, everyone.

Off to walk in the park and then back to my garden.

                      • Morning all - I've been away for a few days and really annoyingly my seedlings were unprepared for the heat! They were in a propagator on the windowsill and are totally cream crackered. After a small bit of wailing I am starting again and thanking my lucky stars it's still early in the season. Toasted seedlings anyone?

BUT also there was a parcel with 2 chilli seedlings in it!! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Thank you SP - am really sorry you will have to wait for your return giftage.

Going to shift the peach tree into the greenhouse today so the flower buds aren't bitten by jack frost.

                        • Another beautiful day. I'm taking a friend who doesn't drive to an appointment later on, so my day is fragmented again. She'll have to put up with me in my gardening gear.

I've just sat down for a break with a cup of tea, so I have the TV on. The weather forecast was on. When did the first day of spring move to 1st March. Someone on telly said it yesterday as well. It was always the spring equinox as far as I'm concerned, around 20/21/22 March.

                            • Afternoon!
Loads more weeding and cutting back of dead stuff...really chuffed!
OH mowed one of the large garden lawns and now there is just the field bit of the garden to mow tomorrow.
Being realistic, there are 2large flower/herbaceous borders which will probably have to wait to be sorted until we get back from hols.
Still, we are waaay ahead of where we normally are in the garden at this time of year.
Off to do the cats again soon then a well deserved soak in the bath

                              • I'm way behind you, Nicos, but way ahead of where I normally am at this time of year. So quietly satisfied.

All good here. Signed for the house. Went and had a visit post purchase. Bigger than I remembered but a lot more work too. Seeing as I only saw inside for about five minutes on a miserable, wet day about nine months ago, it's hardly surprising. Some good things too: a lot more natural light than I expected and a good view of the mountains. Quite a bit of tidying to do, but it feels a bit like a new allotment: lots of old junk to remove but some useful bits left behind by the previous owners. By the look of the calendars on the walls, it's been empty for 20 years. Should do us proud eventually. Mr Snoop is as pleased as punch.
