        • Bit of frost again this morning, but now bright blue and sunny. Even so, going to have to light the range in a bit as bread to bake. Otherwise all good this end. Sorry to hear about everyone who's got the lurgy. Sending sunny vibes your way.

          Have a nice day, everyone.

              • I’ve bought myself an indoor aerial for my kitchen/diner TV. There is an aerial socket in there but it’s not actual connected to anything. Anyway, a lot of jobs I do out there are, quite frankly, boring. So I don’t do them. The instruction manual says on the front “Before using this antenna, please read the instruction manual carefully”. Well I have. It’s been translated from the language it was originally in by someone whose English is neither their first nor second language. I think we all get these manuals from time to time, but this is worse than most.

The last paragraph starts with “*Warm Tip:” and ends with “Thank You Understand”.

Oh well, it’s given me a laugh.

Ran out of time to make lemon and lavender tart today, as originally intended. But it had a good wash and an admiring pat this morning. And it gets Mr Snoop's seal of approval thanks to some whipped cream. Cream here is totally rubbish. It's all UHT or a version of sour cream that has got a ton of stabilisers in it. But a little carton of whipped cream came up decently. Some left after mince pies. Made for a fantastic coffee with a bit of whisky. Phew. Mr Snoop spent a while rearranging shelves in the kitchen to accommodate it, so I'm relieved it has started off in his good books. Not sure about tomorrow. Scones after all?

                  • My younger son is getting married on Saturday next. I’m not happy about it. There is something wrong about the whole scenario, but there is nothing I can do about it. Anyway, I asked about the wedding gift list and he suggested I either pay for the honeymoon, the reception or the ring. I’m a pensioner. I’m not broke but I would be if I paid for any of those. So, I offered my wedding ring. It’s 22carat Channel Island gold. I haven’t worn it for 27 years. I paid for it. It cost £7.10 shillings in 1963. I had it valued by some reputable jewellers and it’s worth £280 - £300 on the open market.

Do you lovely people think that this is an appropriate present? I could’ve and still could make their wedding cake, as I have done that for a living in the past.

                    • JanieB...only my opinion but...if you are not happy about it I would not part with your wedding ring.
I was always of the opinion the brides parents paid for the reception.
If you have made wedding cakes for a living in the past they should be more than happy with your offer.

                      • Good evening, its been a cold, wet, blustery day today again, after church we went a run along the coast, the sea was quite ruff by as it was just reaching high tide so OH wasn't repaired to wait till the tide turned so that I could collect some seaweed so we finished up going for a coffee at a GC after tea tonight I was out in a he greenhouse for a time and sowed some kale and chard and the tomatoes I planted in the raised bed with the heating cable are doing well. Have a good week and enjoy you gardening. Goodnight
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Janie...personally , if your ring means a lot to you, I would keep your ring for yourself . Or maybe for a grandchild to melt down and make their own ring?
If you're not comfortable about this marriage, how would you feel if you were right and they split up and she went off with your ring?
If you have the time, keep the ring and make the cake. A gift of time and skill should be more appreciated.
