I will eventually be re-designing my garden with curved beds either side but still keeping a bit of lawn for where the washing line is. I have the plan in my head so recent plantings have just been a case of stripping some turf in the area and planting shrubs etc. This afternoon I stripped a roughly triangular section of turf, took the top 3 inches off and turned over what was left. I then made three small mounds and planted my Asparagus crowns spreading out the roots. After replacing the soil I had removed I stuck a wooden marker in the middle so I know in the future where they are planted.
By immersing the crowns in water for a week its amazing how the roots had plumped up and tiny little roots had started to form, so hopefully this will help a quick establishment.
On the other side of the garden I planted some tree lillies in a mixed border.
Edited to say. I then spent the rest of the afternoon with the chainsaw chopping up timber I had scrounged from someone demolishing a giant shed.Last edited by Snadger; 27-03-2019, 04:50 PM.My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Good evening, cloudy but dry today, OH wanted to do some shopping, which wasn't too bad, we also paid a visit to our friend then back for the boys, just thinking we will need a holiday shortly as the school stops on Friday for a fortnight school holidays should be at the weekend only, after tea was out in the greenhouse and on checking the temperature of the raised bed it seems to be responding OK to the thermostat settings so that saves me a bit of money I will now plant some peppers and tomatoes into the bed and hopefully get an earlier crop, the rest of the bed will get planted up a bit later on, well going to roam about the Vine for a wee while as there is nothing on tv then may try utube, unfortunatly most postings on there are American, but there is always something to be learned from it. Well enjoy your evening keep a smile on hand to pass on. Goodnightit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Eveming all,
my day started well when I fitted a new shaft to my maul hammer which then allowed me to fit a couple of posts on a paid job. Should have said refitted because they were originally installed in post spikes and had rotted. I cut off 9" or so, cleared out the sockets and banged them back in. The original lap fencing was totalled in the recent winds but I had taken some panels (replaced on another job a couple of years ago) there and these were pressed back into service. My middle names should be make do and mend . Customer delighted which meant I was also delighted.
Managed a couple of hours in the plot after and planted some onion plants out into the tunnel. They've been sitting in there acclimatising for over a week so they should romp away now hopefully.

Oh my goodness but it's chilly here. Very hard frost. I can see me starting the fire early today. I should have done it yesterday but it seemed like a waste of wood just for me and the dogs (Mr Snoop out all day recently).
So, more paid work (same tomorrow) but getting through it.
Enjoy the pedicure, NS. And have a good day everyone, whatever you're up to. Hope it all went well, Janie.

Mornings!
It was mild overnight and 8C now - no wind, no rain but no sun either - wall to wall grey
At least the weather won't tempt me out into the garden 'cos I promised my son's partner a patchwork shopping bag, so best get a shift on to finish it as they'll be here on Sunday...
Have a good'unLast edited by Thelma Sanders; 28-03-2019, 08:56 AM.
