  • Morning All. As expected, it's raining and dull. Tired today so not sure what I'm going to be doing but I don't think it will be a lot, lol.

I want to put power in my tunnel so today might be a 'google how to' type day. Alternatively I might just go post in the diy bit. Or both.

Just to join in with the bee chat, there was a small wasp nest formed in the doorway of the shed last week. It's incredible how they make it, it's so intricate inside. I would just have left it alone if it was in a better spot but the doorway clearly wasn't a suitable place for it. Maybe I had the village idiot wasps in my garden. Anyway, I tried to save it/them and move it without breaking it all but it was too delicate and it just collapsed. Cue me running into the house with some angry wasps on my tail. They were so ungrateful, at least I tried.

    Have a good day.

Same thing here Bren, with just enough rain, at last, to wet the topsoil. Woo hoo!
Bright and breezy this morning, with a few clouds scudding through. Up to feed the cat and then some gardening I think.

Rained most of the morning here too. The veggies are absolutely preening themselves in it!
        Smells lovely too doesn't it?
Nipped out to buy some organic pork from a couple who have recently set up their organic farm locally.
No additives, outdoor reared, free grazing ...sounds good to me!
She was saying that in the autumn they were dab hands at opening spikey sweet chestnuts and discarding the outer shell/husk. Amazing to think they can do that with just their mouths!
They are producing liquid soaps, a variety of pure fruit juices and a few other things she was explaining at 90 miles an hour
Must get on with the last of my unpacking....
Tis lovely being back home again. Great to spend time with, and help out, family and friends, but soooo good to be back home!

I have the start of a wasps nest in my shed. At the moment it looks like an upside down eggcup. It's just to one side of where the roofing felt was stripped off earlier in the year by the wind so I guess that's where they're getting in.

I've over done it. I've spent the last few weeks recovering from my op and I'm on chemo that exhausts me. I was told my body would get used to it and I thought it was starting to. Because of my diagnosis I didn't plant any seeds and now, having realised I might actually survive, I went to a garden centre to buy plants. It wasn't an altogether bad idea as they were end of planting season and incredibly cheap. Now I have a car full of plants and I'm too tired to take them out. My car is parked on the road and I haven't been able to park close by. I'll give it an hour and see how I feel. Other than that it will be 6am tomorrow before my car turns into an unairconditioned greenhouse.

                      • Forgot to mention that I've been looking for those large perennial oriental poppies for ages. Can't seem to find them here, and the last couple of times I was in the uk they told me it was the wrong time of year. Well!... guess who bought 6 on this last visit to the uk?
Need to get those planted out today for sure!

                          • Good morning,

Grey clouds here. Sun was out at half 6 this morning. Got to take OH for his hospital appointment at dinner. Hes having a camera down his throat. I am just dropping him off and then going to the allotment and wait for his phone call for when he is out and ready for me to pick him up.

Very warm 17C already but total grey cloud cover, horribly humid and no breeze at all yuk! Cloud due to break about tea time according to the forecast.
No idea what to do today - not in the mood for anything at all Pfft. I'll just have another cup of tea for now......

                              • Temps due to rise to normal for the time of year, but it's a shock to the system after the recent cold. The cicadas that have suddenly started up at night, a sure sign that toms and the like will survive outdoors. On the downside, the dogs think the cicadas are making some kind of alarm call, so were barking like mad last night. Hope they get used to it soon.

Not much other news. Loads of work for the next few days, but gardening has started in earnest. Whipped out a few more straggly bits of bindweed today. Feel like I'm winning on that front.

                                Have a great day, everyone.
