        • Afternoon All Daughter appeared yesterday for a couple of days which meant I got a night off last night. I actually went upstairs to a proper bed at 6.30pm where I stayed with my Kindle and a glass or two of wine. The intention was to just relax and catch up on lost sleep. Unfortunately my internal clock must be so used to waking up with the dog throughout the night that I kept the same hours even without him. Tbh it was nice just not having to be the responsible party for a little while. Daughter slept with dog (or didn't as the case was ) so she's tired today.

Sun and rain have been battling it out here all day. When it's sunny, it's actually quite hot and when it's raining it's chucking it down. Crazy.

Happy Father's Day to All, male or not or fathers or not.

          • Good evening all.
            Had a busy day.
Went to the cemetery this morning to attend the annual mass for the deceased.
In the afternoon went to a late lunch with some of the family.
Home now and just got in ahead of the rain.
            Have a good night all.

Snoop, if you are like me you will remember a time when you could be out late and up early without any ill effects
Now it takes me all night to do what I did all night

                  • Good morning, everyone. And a right good morning it is. Better get my skates on though, as it's hotting up already.

Veg patch starting to look like things are happening. Need to thin out some beans, as per advice from VC and Scarlet, but I hate doing it. They're looking so bright and optimistic. Melon seeds up in all the stations. Squash and courgettes nearly all through. Potatoes looking just as jolly about life as the beans. Radishes all germinated (a miracle for me) and the beetroot are starting to poke through too. Looks like late sowing direct might work well. Only things not really doing much are the toms, peppers and aubergines. Had a visitor come round yesterday and hers are just the same: hot daytime temps but really cold nights (still below 10 ºC, amazingly). Supposed to start getting a bit warmer at night this week, so I hope they put a spurt on, otherwise they'll be wasted effort.

Looks like I might be getting the life-work balance better sorted. Long may this continue!

                    Have a great day, everyone.

                    • Morning, just back from a rather soggy weekend ‘down South’!! We sent our son some photos of us at a food festival where it poured most of the day and the ground was so mucky only to be sent one of him and his friend sun bathing in our garden!!! Chose the wrong weekend...we had a great time though!
Hope you all had a great weekend too...off to unpack and get a washing on.

                      • Morning, the day has started with glorious sunshine, but the heavy dark clouds are looming already, had some breakfast, strawberries whilst in the greenhouse, does a handful count as one of your 5 a day or is it all of them I wonder. I have seriously over dosed on the cut and come again lettuce, we are now having the pull up and seriously reduce lettuce instead, good news is I can eat it again after removal of those troublesome Gall Stones etc.

                        • Good morning all.
Sunny here but who knows how long it will last.
Just been looking at the 14 day forecast and it takes us up to July 1st.
Scary how quick the weeks are passing.
                          Have a good day all.

                          • Morning All. Lovely sunny morning here but I had to drive daughter to an appointment in Inverness. Managed to come home with a parking ticket (1st ever )for my troubles. It's now clouding over and rain is forecast. Wish I'd stayed in bed.

                            Have a good one.

                            • Afternoon all!
Went out with my cuppa this morning and been out ever since, garden was in real need of a tidy up, cos I've spent most of any dry weather on the allotment, and it was showing *blush*
Moved the unused bags of compost out of sight and the seed trays of plants, still to go to the plot, up onto the bench so I could move the 'flower' pots to their summer positions, a couple still need planting up, though
Now I can really see how weedy it is, I'll need another day - at least, to sort it all out, as my back has had enough now

                              Hope you're all having a good'un

                              • Good afternoon, after heavy rain overnight the morning started off dry but by mid day there were big black clouds moving in, heavy rain by one o clock and now dull but dry, did a bit of weeding this morning but not much more than that, now thinking about making the tea and might go and collect some seaweed if it stays dry
