Does anyone else in England feel that we are surrounded by grapes who have got our sunshine. Spain, Portugal, France, Scotland, N Ireland and VC who always has sunshiny Wales. Could at least one of you give at least some of it back. Pretty please.
Sorry but you've been misinformed. The amount of sun we have had lately you could cram into 24 hours. I keep waiting for this heatwave we are supposed to be getting ......
Morning, everyone. Janie, I would love to swap some sun for some rain if you can arrange it.
Very hot again. Not sure what all the tractors were about yesterday afternoon, but no rain on the horizon here for weeks. Not good.
Not much news except bad news: spotted two Asian hornets round my water barrels yesterday. We already have a whopper European hornet nesting above a lintel, but it's clearly the only one. We've had one there for the last few years, and only one fortunately. Need to keep an eye out for the Asian hornets' nest. We weren't expected to get them because the winters are so hard, but last winter wasn't as cold as usual, so they're succeeding in spreading. Not what I wanted to see, at all.
Today's gardening already done and dusted. On with the paid work now.
Afternoon!
Good time at market.
Bought 2 decent sized sorrel plants, 100 pencil sized leeks to plant on ,and a dozen oak leaved lettuce.
Called in to get some chook feed on the way home and they were giving away bags of bulbs
Would have been rude not to have taken some
Think I best get on with mowing before the rains return...

Evening all, well it's been warm and we have had sunshine, but we have also had some hefty showers, gardens looking verdant though and the greenhouse is coming along too, only salad and strawberries to eat just yet, but at least they're healthy. Tomorrow should be a nice day according to the forecasts, might try a spot of fishing once the watering's been done in the greenhouse.
Lots of strawberries growing, tomatoes looking good as are the peppers. Vines, citrus trees, olive, bay and herbs all looking fine. I might not be happy with the rain but the plants are revelling in it.
Look away boys, girly chat coming up. I've had long hair ever since I managed to escape from my mothers choice of hairdo. Apart from twice when I had to have it cut off due to an accident and my husbands dislike of one particular hairdo. Yesterday I had it chopped. I actually wanted it shorter than it is but backed out at the last minute so it's just above shoulder length. I've always been a natural blonde but when my hair needs washing, it looks darker so I bleach it. Bear with me, I'm coming to the point. The colourant I use has been changed recently so I had to take a punt at the one I needed. It smells of chemical carnations. I would prefer it just smelled of chemicals as it used to.
I was looking at our local FB page this morning and came across this goose. I've spent far too much time today reading her posts. If anyone is interested search "Esmae McDougall" and if you want a cry "Samuel McDougall".
Thankyou for sending some sunshine back.

Hey!
Trip!... good to see ya
Indeed it is!
What have you been up to?
I spent a fantastic afternoon /evening in the garden.
Managed to get loads of weeding done on top of mowing. My arms are still stinging from the nettles.
Have to say though..the weeds came out so easily after all the rain we've had.
Hibou gave us a bit of a surprise though....she presented us with a weasel she'd killed.
Having just goooogled to check it was a weasel and not a stoat, I am quite shocked at how viscious they are. Apparently they can easily kill rabbits, buzzards etc and are mean killing machines even though they are small. It absolutely stank too...rancid putrid stink. That's a defence thing apparently.
Right, well...it's not far off dawn, the birds have just started singing, and I want to check out sunrise...happy longest day peeps!

Hiya, Trip. Good to see you. And good morning to everyone else.
Glad you're enjoying the sun, guys. And thanks for the drop of rain and cloudy skies in return. Not much rain, but enough to cool the ground down. And a day off the blazing sun is a relief. Due to get much hotter at the weekend... Wish I could send you that as well.
I had to stop looking at Esmae and Samuel's Facebook pages, Janie. Could read those all day!
So, today's events: bit of earthing up potatoes and weeding. Not much watering required, just a few plants close to an olive tree. Then off to a nearby town to do some shopping and to go to the post office to collect some parcels, including golden syrup to make some Cornish fairings this weekend. Possibly my favouritest biscuit of all. Then back home for paid work. Not a bad day at all. Will just have to resist making the Cornish fairings straight away...
Hope you all have great days. Enjoy the sun for me. I'm certainly enjoying your cool.
Well, that was interesting!
We just had quite a strong earthquake!
I went online to check to see if there was any information about it only to discover there was another one earlier at 1.45 this morning magnitude 4.4
