Good evening, its been a dry but cloudy day today, OH wanted to go to shopping today so up to a shopping centre outside Glasgow then to a GC for lunch, once back home I was out to the garden and doing some weeding I also scattered some marigold seeds through the flower beds, after tea I sowed some Chinese cabbage, kohl rabbi and spring cabbage and I am now sitting with an ice pack on my ankle as its badly swollen and I don't know what has caused it, so will need to sit with it elevated for a time, and while I have been sitting I have decided to do a bit of work in the field out the back, I was going to make a football pitch in it but the youngest grandson suffers quite a lot from hay fever so I have decided to turn it into a wild flower garden a d one of my other grandsons wants to help so I will be trying no dig beds will let you know how it goes. Now, goodnight

Morning all. Congrats on your expanding family, Nicos. My impression is that wild flowers don't do well with lots of nutrients, Rary, so don't add too much in the way of muck and the like.
Once around with the watering can this morning. All the rain that fell has now dried up. But that was a nice couple of days off. Things are starting to look good. Picked some radish and salad leaves for lunch. Radishes actually look quite decent despite the heat. The squash plants are starting to go rampant. Hadn't quite appreciated how much the Confection (small Crown Prince type) would roam. They grew at least 20 cm in the night, now easily 2.5 m from tip to tip... Only sown five weeks ago. How big are they likely to grow?
Work today, work tomorrow. And then I start my holidays, honest.
Meanwhile, have a good one.
Edited to add: There's a piece on the Beeb website about liquorice and Pontefract and an amazing sweetshop. If they do international deliveries, I'm scuppered. I love, love, love Pontefract cakes. Probably as much as I love my hori-hori, and as you all know, that's a lot!Last edited by Snoop Puss; 11-07-2019, 09:41 AM.

Good morning all.
We have had a shower start to the morni g but its cleared up now.
Hardly enough to do much good to the dry ground,
No plans for today but I am sure something will come to mind.
Have a good day all,
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Pre mornin/post even n'alln'all
Just fed the pegbogs.
All doing well, but not really been able to take a photo as they curl up when they see movement. Don't want to humanise them but I do have my camera handy!
The latest one is reallyreally tiny, but pulled through the night. It's eating crunchy kitten biscuits which is better than its siblings!
Off early to the coast tomorrow to take my friend to the ferry.
Nearly weekend eh
Oh and Snoop!... I utterly adore liquorice to! Even thought of growing my own but it looked like too much work mmmmm....."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Morning all. Could have done with three hours more sleep, so a bit groggy today. Never mind. Holidays start at the end of the day.
Once around the veg patch with the watering can. Mr Snoop helped, so done a bit quicker. Aubergines looking quite impressive. Lots of very large flowers doing their best to attract pollinators, but there aren't many of those. Courgette plants still going gangbusters on the female flowers and not a male in sight. And the squash, well, they're just going bonkers.
So, on with the day. Have a good one, everyone.
