good morning all, grey sky here, more wet stuff no doubt, good one Nicos,i made myself do cake yestersay, twas nice first out the oven, then noticed it wanted more cooking, after all these years, the darned knitting needle gave a fals reading,it will still be ok for puddings, the choc 1 seems fine, just need to slap it together with buttercream, then try,i have used that DR choc powder,to see if it any better for taste,if not it back to the famous brand,Bgood2yrselves.

Morning, all. Hope you're doing fine and dandy.
All good here. Up well before the sun today. Got a lad helping out with jobs that need extra hands and strength. First up, my fence for the other side of my veg patch. Said lad and Mr Snoop are making excellent progress. Meanwhile, my contribution to proceedings so far today has been to do the washing-up. Think I'm getting off lightly! Not quite as hot today (so far), and a little bit of cloud, so not a bad day for outdoor work.
Brought up some more water from the well and everything had a good dousing last night. Only two more weeks to potatoes being ready (according to the calendar), minuscule French beans are just starting to develop (all of about one cm long), and I pollinated a butternut squash this morning. Every time I count the melons, the number changes, but there look to be plenty. Emir seem particularly productive. And the peppers look to be the best I've ever grown.
Right, that's enough blowing my plants' trumpet. On with the tedious but necessary grind of paid work.
Have a good one, everyone.

Lottie...do you have a microwave?....If I ever get a cake slightly undercooked I cut that bit out and bung it in the microwave!
I went through a period of 'soggy bottomed' apple charlottes so learned that quick fix from that!"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Morning, finally back in the land of the living after a visit south to England, sadly started with 2 funerals, first an old biker mate then a band mate straight after, RIP Pete and Bob.
On a happier note I stayed with my brother for a couple of days then went to deepest darkest Essex to visit our son and his family, actually the area around Braintree is quire nice and we had a nice catch up weekend before the 10 hour drive north!!

Morning all.
Just been out and watered the potatoes (did everything else last night). Bit bashed about after yesterday's very windy afternoon. Two more weeks supposedly, but they were looking so tired and fed up I could almost kid myself that they're ready now... Resisting, just. Hand-pollinated a couple of Barbara butternuts. Counted the melons - there are three fewer than yesterday, apparently.
New fence built yesterday was glistening in the sun this morning. No gates as yet. All looks a bit odd with no veg as yet. The other side is looking really green and lush. And the birds love it as the cats can't get in and I've put down water below a tree. When I went out to water yesterday evening, a cloud of sparrows and a largish brown bird (Mrs Blackbird?) took off from olive tree.
Temperatures due to rise back into the mid-30s, but August looks like it won't be anything like as bad as July. Back to sleeping with a quilt already. Nice!
Right, that's enough gibbering from me. Have a lovely day, everyone.

Chucking it down here. Getting a bit fed up of this weather now tbh. Allways looked forward to retirement relaxing outdoors.
Can't blame people for becoming ex-pats when the weather is so carp at home although foreighn climes sometimes have there own problems. My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Good morning all.
Lovely sunny morning.
Free day for me as the last few days have been hectic.
Lots to do in the garden today so looking forward to an outdoor day.
Have a good one all.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Sorry...was around yesterday but only briefly.
Lottie....just a matter of seconds is all that's needed....I think you may have overzapped it?
More Mrs Mop for me....not complaining as I'd much rather be doing this than an office job
Nice misty start to the day here. No wind, no rain, no sun!
Good to see the lawn turning back to a vague shade of green at least
