  • ^It's shocking, isn't it. This year is rushing towards the end and I feel like it's barely even started.

So, guess what...? I don't have any work whatsoever to do. Not a word to translate or proofread. Mr Snoop rather put the kibosh on my demob happiness by telling me I could do my paperwork, then. Pah! I've got plans. Get one of my last beds ready for last minute veg (turnips, spinach and the like), make an almond and lemon cake and possibly even some biscuits. OK, not good for the diet but who cares when you're on holiday?!

I'm avoiding thinking about the fact that I might have to deal with the potatoes. They look suspiciously to me like they might have blight, which is as unheard of here as me not having any work to do. So at the moment I'm refusing to believe it.

    Have a great day, everyone.

Edited to add: Forgot to say, Burnie, that is a mighty fine setup. Congratulations.

    • Morning, still heavy rain here so won't be wondering very far today, that's a good bit of model making burnie, well done, just noting how some cope or how their perspective changes as they get older, some have a wee nap others find the year/time going past rather quickly, more things I have to look forward to when I get older well I better go and see if I can find something to do as it could be a long day
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

        • Good morning all.
Bright and breezy here today as well.
Off out to play pitch and putt.
          Have a good day all.

          • Morning all, really wet overnight but breezy and drying up fine now. We have decided to have a lazy day. Been such a lot going on recently that we kinda deserve it. Having said that, I'll no doubt find myself something to do. I'm just not good at sitting on my hands

            • Chuckinitdarn here, so might be doing more railway modelling and we have a real steam engine coming through the village on it's way to Aberdeen, so if the rains not too heavy I might pop out to watch it.
Couple of pictures of what I get up to when not either gardening, fishing or taking wildlife pictures(I have had some more images printed in the Scottish Field magazine again).

              • Mornings! (oops just missed the deadline )

Bright and breezy here as well, but still warm, the cold front doesn't get down here for a day two if you can believe the forecasts???

I got my wires up and the fruit tied up but annoyed to find that my thornless Tayberry has reverted to thorny. So it's coming out *grumble grumble* that'll teach it I've ordered some Joan J rasps, my favs, to go in that space instead.

Just a gentle amble to the plot later for some veg, and some salad leaf sowing - still a bit stiff after yesterday's efforts, but worth it to finally get the job done.

                Have a good'un

In summer i get steam trains on the line at the end of my garden and always get excited to see and hear them, and often wave to the drivers and sometimes get a hoot back Mind you they're not allowed to go fast here...

                    • My sister lives in London.
She sees the Orient Express passing the bottom of her garden regularly.
We always say, some day we will be on that train.

                      • Mornin n'alln'all
                        Dark innit?
We had a nice bit of rain during the late evening and everything seems to have been well watered
Lots of pottering required today so might not go for the final outdoor swim. Aching like crazy also isn't encouraging me to push myself that one last time!
Looks like I'm still on target for my weight loss weighin tomorrow.

Neat job there Burnie! Scrolling up the page I came across what I thought at first was a photo of your garden from your bedroom window!

Just listening here to the 7am bells...from both local churches! lovely!

First things first though....anyone for a brew?

And before I forget, Happy September!

                        • Morning, Nicos. Morning, all.

Started off cloudy here but the sun is starting to shine through. Not much planned for the day. Mr Snoop keeps reminding (nagging) me about all my paperwork. So better deal with at least some of it.

Other than that. A bit of gardening and a bit of cooking. Got myself a new pressure cooker recipe book and it is full of inspiration. Of the claimed 225 recipes, there are probably all of three I wouldn't make!

Right, on with the show. Have a good one, everyone.

                          • I love looking through recipe books!
When I was younger my mom and I would go through recipe books and decide on a 3course menu just for the fun of it!! Never made them, but we spent many happy hours drooling our way through books and picking out interesting food/flavour combinations.
The French make a lot of pressure cooked casseroles etc. One of the 'must have' kitchen utensils in our gites...as well as a bottle opener
I use my pressure cooker as a big pan for making chutneys

It's a fine sunny morning here.
Off to mass shortly and then out to the club.
The all Ireland football final is taking place in Croke Park today.
Dublin are on track to make history by hopefully beating Kerry to win five in a row.
                                Very exciting day for Dubliners.
                                Have a good day all.
